~REPLY WRITING AREA~

Before you post a reply saying that you are overweight or that you want to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator . If the calculator says that you are healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that you are overweight or that you want to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

Ht. 5'5", Start: 190 lb, Today: 130 lb, Goal: 127 lb - Hi everyone! So, I'm seeing a lot of people who are struggling to lose weight and are trying to figure out where to start. I struggled all of my life with weight, and just recently made the switch to a healthy life style about 2 years ago. However, I haven't forgotten how utterly difficult and impossible the process seemed at times. Losing weight is hard. No one can deny that. However, there are 2 things that I found helpful when starting my journey: 1) Put yourself on an eating schedule. If you don't do anything else, do that. It will give you some semblance of self control. Try eating every 2 hours at first (breakfast, 2 hours later a snack, 2 hours later lunch, etc). In between that 2 hours, don't allow yourself to snack. It will give you a chance to get used to not snacking constantly, and make you aware of when you are and aren't hungry. Gradually, you will be able to go longer. 2) Buy healthy foods. Even today, I struggle with eating unhealthy food if it's in the house. It's MUCH easier to have self control for an hour when grocery shopping than for the month or so the food is in the house. Try healthy snacking, like fruit, yogurt, and almonds. Once you start the process you will find being healthy is getting easier. I wish you ALL luck on your journey. Don't give up, and NEVER be ashamed that you are trying to lose weight. Incorporate others to hold you accountable and support/push you. Really, if it's a matter of your health and your happiness, it's worth the effort.
