First of all, don't think you HAVE to exercise to 2 to 3 hours a day. That's crap!! I walk my golden retreiver for 1/2 an hour a day or play with her in the back yard (she likes to be chased), walk with my mom, (she also dances with me to the Vanga Boys party CD - is a mover), SCOOTERING is GREAT!! Anything that you can do, everyday for a 1/2 an hour. Drink tons of ice water and no matter what, don't give up your 1/2 hour. That's your time, girlfriend. Your time and space to do something for yourself. You will be amazed at how good you feel!!

Hi! You don't sound too overweight to me you just need to los like, 10-15lbs. But if you want some advice just try to work out about 30 mins a day that's what I do. And instead of getting a drive or taking the bus go for a stroll! It's really fun and you get some time to think to yourself. Good luck!, Mags

Well since I last posted I've been drinkiong lots of water and on Monday I promised myself I would go to the recreation centre everyday and run a mile! Well I can't quite run a mile BUT what I do is I alternate! I do one lap running, one lap walking, run, walk just like that until I do a mile! I actually have fun doing it too because afterwards I'm really energized and stuff :) And I feel so proud of myself! BTW I'm 5'8" and 180lbs I lost 1 pound last week! :D

hey, i'm 5'6 and weigh 162lbs. when i say something to my friends about being fat, they just saying whatever!!! your so skinny!!! but that's just what it looks like. i have alot of fat in my stomach. everytime i sit down it rolls over my pants. and i hate wearing tight shirts because of the big roll i have. and i want to atleast get a flat stomach by the end of may, because i'm going to be starting marching band and it will be hot outside and i want to be able to wear those spaghetti strap shirts that are always kinda tight and short. so if you have ne tips for losing weight and getting a flatter stomach, please let me kno!!! you can email me at delirious25@hotmail.com

Chicky!!! Good choice with the marching band!!! I've been in one here on Canada (probably nowhere near as tough as in rthe US) and I've lost 15 lbs. since September!! Ask one of your friends (preferably not incredib;y skinny and gorgeous) to go walking with you every day after school or 4 times a week or something, and maybe turn it into running or running laps around a nearby field. That's what I've recently started doing and it's great because you have someone to talk to and motivate you!!! Keep working and good luck in band!! I don't really have many more tips than that, but if ya wanna talk and become friends, e-mail me at rosieanne1987@hotmail.com

Ok, this is a post about committment. I am currently overweight, and I have started to endure in cardiorepiratory work outs...but the problem is, how do I stay on task? I tend to slack off because I get discouraged. I have a very low metabolism, so I lose weight VERY slowly, and it's hard...I am currently in a size 16-18, and I guess my first goal is to get down to a 13...then work from there. I don't need tips on how to diet or exercise but of commitment and dedication. I would appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks a bunch! :)

I have a medium metabolism and I have started running and a caalorie chart and I myself was a size 14 but now i am a 13 and a can just barly fit in to a 12. Its hard but the more you work at it the better. I also would slack off with my running at home but since it has gotton cold out and I have Vollyball after school so I don't find time but I run as much time as I can in P.E. anid I have already broken 2 records of mine each day!! just try and you will start getting better!!!!

Hey everyone... When I was younger I was large too. It was really hard on me so I know what you kids are going through. I just wanted to tell you though that it gets easier as you get older...even if you don't lose weight. When you get older and get out of school people mature and accept you as who you are. I know that me saying this doesn't make it any easier on you now, but trust me, things will get better. In the meantime, try not to focus so much on "weight." Focus instead on health and being healthy. Adopt a few lifestyle changes and add in a bit of exercise. Keep in mind that exercise doesn't have to be boring! Find something fun like badminton, volleyball, soccar or whatever you like. Exercise can be fun too. Anyway, take care kids. I'm sending ((((((((hugs))))))) out to all of you. :o)

Your words have inspired me to go on and do great things. Now I don't mind that I'm a size 18! I also now have one friend. She is called Sadie and she's real nice. She only weighs 7 stone! Thankyou for your words of advice, they have helped me to get through this lonely time and I have now realized that the world is a beautiful place. I have taken up a great sport, badminton and am in the kids badminton club. Its the best!!! Lots of love a hugs, NancyXXX

Hey everybody! I need some serious help. I am 5 '4, and weigh 160 pounds. I try to get into excersizing, but I can't stick with it. I know I need to lose weight, but I can't seem to control my eating habits. My waist size is 31, but even they're too tight. I really need help. Can ANYBODY help me?
Reply From Michelle, Age 13 - 12/03/00 show message replied to go to original board
I know EXACTLY how you feel! I'm the same weight and I'm 3" shorter than you! The best thing you can do is to 1. except it (say to youself "I bigger than I want to be" Iknow it sounds mean, but only you know it's true) 2. Change it. I know you said you can't stick to excercise, well try alternatives. Do you like to dance, ski, or swim? All of these are great ways of excercising with having fun! And if you don't think you can keep this up, ask for lessons, then you KNOW you'll get the excercise you need!
