Hey everyone in these past 8 months i have lost 30 pounds!
I did it by doing a few things
1- i joined basketball which was right after school... when i ate the most. by doing basketball i had something to do and it was good excersise!
2- i cut out soda and put in water and milk what i mean by this is i used to drink 4 sodas a day and now i only drink one unless i have a sleepover and need to stay up late:)
3- i chewed orbit. lol ok so whenever i got hungry or wanted food i didn't need i would just chew gum. it actually helped!
4- i never ate unless i was REALLY hungry
ur stomach will not tell u wrong if ur hungry eat when ur not stop if u have a lot of food in front of u don't eat it all bcuz ur bored... eat until u r satisfied
and finally...
5- eat lots of fibers, whole grains, fruits and veggies all that good stuff!

Hi Natalie,
Im around the same height as you and used to not be the 'slimest' person ever either, and i'm still not, but now im a healthy body weight (135lbs). What I did: 1)I started by walking to school (if your school is far away, try walking home instead so you arent late), 2)eating less junk food (aka McDonalds, Soda, Chips...), 3) I started going to my local gym every second day with my friend after school, 4) I began to go on hikes with my parents or friends on the weekends. 5) Once I felt more comfortable I joined some sports, 6) I took my dog for walks in the evening after dinner (if you dont have a dog, ask one of your parents to go with you for company). Slowly I began to lose the weight, though it takes ALOT of effort. Once you are finished though, you dont only look better (not saying you look bad), you also feel better. I really hope you can reach your goal of 140lbs! And I hope you will take my advice and work with it!
Wishing you luck!
-Tracey :)

Hey, look at it this way. The hotter the air around you, the more you swaet, the easier you lose weight. You can literally ust sit there and be burning quite a few calories. SO! To avoid reversing taht process, do NOT over-eat. And too much ice cream is a no-no. Not only cause too much is fattening, but more importantly, because most have other ingredients taht aren't all that healthy, such as synthesized gum and colour additives, and flavour additives. I know it's real hot. Try to look towards otehr alternatives. Freeze yogourt. Still really good, can get different flavours and very healthy. Or, make a banana or strawberry or fruit smoothie, and add ice. Or just freeze the entire thing as a makeshift freezie. Another alternative is plain, ice cold water. G'Luck! Dno't give up..;

Ht. 5'6.5", Start: 214 lb, Today: 214 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 130 lb - I haven't been on here in a while but I'm finally taking action! I've joined a slimming group and have stuck to the diet for 2 days, which doesn't sound like much but it's an achievement for me! I've found it helps a lot to have something quick to grab just for when you feel like nibbling on something, so I like to keep some grilled chicken chopped into bite size pieces in the fridge :) it just helps to know that I can have the food if I want it, rather than trying to totally restrict myself, so try it! Good luck everyone!

I have the same problem where I have to eat everything on my plate, even if I am full. What I try to do now is put my fork down when I start getting full and decide if I want a little more. If I do, then I eat a little more. If I don't, then I cover my food with a napkin. If I can't see it, then I don't feel like I have to eat it. If that doesn't work, try pouring a little water on your plate. That way your food will taste gross so there is no point eating it. Hope that helps a little =)

My guess would be, just to stop when your full. Lol...If you are full but keep eating just because you want it, it's going to make you miserable. Just stop when you're full and if you get hungry later, you should eat some almonds..they help stop a hunger craving.

First of all, if you are looking for a quick way out, don't read my post. If you are looking for a great way to feel fit, feel healty, and start to feel better about yourself, read it. I'm 213LB, 5'6". I have lost 23LBs still losing about 2-3 every other day. All i have done is cut my portions down to a small but pleasing size. Instead of Soda, i drink Water. Instead of Sugar, use splenda. Candy, don't cut yourself completely from it. Just have it once in a while. That way one day you don't fall into temptation and go on a candy spree. Also, almonds are a great filler or snack food if you have already eaten your main course and feel hungry still. A handfull of those should fix that. As for chocolate cravings, Hot chocolate, Chocolate milk, or a finger dab of Hershey's chocolate syrup should help stop that craving. I have so far increased my exercise to a 30min walk everyday, 10situps, and as many push ups as i can do..but when i lost my wait rapidly, really all i was doing was that 30min. walk per day. I hope you have sucess and i hope this helped. Good luck. :)

Hi. I'm no expert, but i have lost quite a bit of weight and this is how: First i limited my self to small portions. I made sure i was never hungry. Eating almonds can help your hunger decrease, and chocolate milk or cocoa or even a small dab of that hershey's syrup can keep away the chocolate cravings. When faced with a choice of soda or water..water is a better choice. Reducing the amount of soda you drink can make a big difference. If you don't like excercise, a good choice might be at least 30min. walks every day. By following all of this i have lost 23 pounds. Hope this helps :)And Good Luck.

Ht. 5'5", Start: 255 lb, Today: 225 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 140 lb - Hi all! Many of you new people may not know me but I used to come here all the time.. about 3 years ago? Wow. Anywho. I lost about 25 lbs at that time which would be about freshman year for me. I gained it back because a lot of the strategies I see that people are using here.. Now i'm a high school senior year who is about to graduate and I've lost weight, feel so much better about it and have the strength to keep it going.. (for a LONG time).. So I wanted to share my hints, tips and recent strategies.. Feel free to add any of your own!
- Eat every 2 hours. Really. Don't allow your body to become hungry for too long. As long as you feel full you can't feel starved!
- There's also that mentality of feeling "starved" or "deprived" because of the TYPES of foods you have to cut out to lose weight. Have these.. in SMALL.. and i mean small moderation. Don't have fast food one night ... (view more)

Ht. 5'0", Start: 228 lb, Today: 204 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 170 lb - So far I have lost about 24 lbs! I can't really tell but the scale says so lol. I'm trying really hard to lose this weight and I don't know why but it seems easier lately.. I try to find something to do when I'm bored instead of eat because I would get bored and eat.. I portion my meals so I don't eat to much and I stop when I'm full not OVER full. I do a lot of walking so that helps a lot I'm also thinking about doing some workout videos that I have. How is everyone doing? Good Luck. =)

Hi Dean. If you really want help, maybe you will listen to someone who has struggled with weight all of his life. That's right, i mean me.From kindergarten and on, i was always very overweight for my age.In many cases,i was the fattest kid in my class. By the age of 13, i was weighing a whopping 345 pounds. I was so miserable, that i attempted suicide twice in that year. Now at the age of 15,i am 5'8 and 170 pounds. You got it, that means i have lost 175 pounds in 2 years. The way i did it was really the only safe and effective way. You're going to have to try and find other things to distract you when u have the urge to stuff yourself. You need to exercise as much as you can at your current weight, and keep exercising more as you lose weight.Of course you will need to start eating better. Smaller meals, fewer snacks.Don't tell me how impossible it sounds, because i KNOW.Limit yourself to... (view more)
