Ht. 5'2", Start: 175 lb, Today: 132 lb - Hey, guys, I've been on here for almost 2 years. Yup, from almost the beginning. Over the past two years I've gone from 175 to 138 and i'm 5'2". Mostly I've lost weight through counting calories (trying to average around 1550 a day) and through exercising. I know a lot of you don't want to go to the hassle of writing down every single thing you eat and finding out how many calories everything is, and then adding it up. These are my TIPS FOR LOSING WEIGHT THAT I HAVE USED SO FAR. First, eat normally, if your just starting your diet, have not yet started, or are wondering why you are fat, and write down everything you eat for 3 days. This means how many glasses of water, that piece of gum you had after lunch, that candy cane you had after dinner. Next LOOK at your eating habits. Are you eating more that what you think you did. Probably. Trust me, I was. Next, ban three things that will... (view more)Hey, guys, I've been on here for almost 2 years. Yup, from almost the beginning. This means how many glasses of water, that piece of gum you had after lunch, that candy cane you had after dinner. Next LOOK at your eating habits. Are you eating more that what you think you did. Probably. Trust me, I was. Next, ban three things that will make you a much healthier person. First, Pop (soda), even diet ones. They are empty calories and they have acid in them (especially diet pop) which can really hurt you. And it contributes to bone loss, which in later age can make you more likely to break a hip or arm. Second- Ban frozen foods. This will be hard for many of you, and I admit, I haven't fully been able to do this. This means things like t.v dinners, pizza rolls, and baked pizza. None of that is healthy for you and is full of perservatives and tons of calories. Third- Ban fast food. This means burgers, french fries, mozzerella sticks. Burgers are commonly refered to as "heart attack on a bun". I know, my brother works at a fast food restaruant. Remember a few other things, drink a lot of water, it will keep you full. To keep from eating less chew each fork-full of food 20 times and put your fork down in between bites. Then, before you go for seconds, wait 5 minutes and ask yourself, am I really full? I bet you probably will be. Good luck to all of you, and I wish you great success! ~Michelle (view less)

I feel like I ate so much today, I had a bagel for breakfast, fries and gravy for lunch (I shared them) and a few chips in a class, I got home had dinner and then I ate like 4 cookies. I havent lost any weight since Ive started (im 5'1 and 138 lbs) but I havent gained any either. Im going to try to eat healthier. Good luck everyone, and also remember you cant get a nice stomache just from doing sit-ups you first have to lose the fat.

I dont really want or feel the need to count calories. I simply try to make better food choices and smaller portions...the thing is also though that when you eat at a school there is no way to know how many calories your eating, and in most cases its alot.

Hi! I just had a great idea for a diet that maybe every one could start. First, this is called the redeem diet. Take out some paper, and draw little redeemption coupons for junk food. Say maybe, you love pizza. So, you limit yourself to 2 redeemption vouchers a month. And after you finish the free redeemption. You stop! ok? 2) Another way is to start a card with squares. For every healthy meal you eat, put a tick. After you have collected say, maybe 12 ticks, give yourself a treat! I bet it would work. If you wanna try it out, reply to this msg,

I so know where you are coming from. I use to be 175 pounds and 5foot 1 also. I am now 145 pounds and 5 foot 2. It took me about a year to lose all the weight. First I started by counting calories and exercising. If you want to know a good exercise program that invovles running and/or walking, please post here, because it is sorta long, and I don't want to write it all out if nobody is gonna use it. Oh, and when I counted calories, I allowed myself 1800 calories a day, then worked down to 1500.

Hay!My name is Ruth and I have plenty of reasons to want to become slim.I weigh 168lb and I hate it.I am in total love with one of my lad best friends and maybe he would go out with me if i lost weight.Im the heaviest out of my friends and its really embarassing.I hate the way I am.All my friends have lads thet fancy them and fit into size 8.When I go to discos, I can never swap clothes with them and I always go wearing trousers to try and cover up my HUGE ENORMOUS thighs.I am very depressed so maybe this is why I overeat.I dont know.I cant cope in school and am always failing tests and to make matters worse Im doing my junior cert in 4 months time.I worry all the time bout the simplest things and to stop me worrying I overeat.I am not hungry, just bored, loney, worried and upset.Food is my comfort.I even have stretchmarks which pregnent women get because my skin is stretching so rapidly.I am 168lb and to reach at least 120.Itb would make all the difference in the world to me.I could go out with Shane, be happier in school, look good at discos and can go swimming without being embarassed. Please, someone help me before its too late.Thank you so much.Ruth.xoxoxox.(",).From Ireland.

Hey! I know what you feel like. I use to weigh 170lbs and now I'm 147. I went from a womens size 18 to a Juniors size 13. I still have a little way to go because i want to be about 135lbs. I'm also 5ft 1inch. The things i did that may help you were 1) count calories, first, eat regular for a day then figure out how many calories you ate. Then, if you want to lose a pound a week just by cutting calories, cut 500 calories and day. So if you ate 2200 calories regular, cut it to about 1650 calories. 2)Also, I know from personal expirience that it is harder to excercise when your heavier. Well start easy and work your way up in difficulty. I suggest to run in place for 1 minute each day for 1 week. The next week 2 minutes a day. Then 3 minutes a day. All the way up to 10-15 minutes a day. This will boost your metabolism and make u look and feel better. Don't forget to stretch before, though. You'll be less sore the next day. Do this religiously and within a month, you should loose 5-10lbs. I wish you the best.

It may be hard to lose that much weight in such a short period of time, but I have a few suggestions on how to begin. First of all, write down everything you eat for a few days. Notice if you tend to eat a lot of candy or drink too many sodas. If so, begin to cut them out of your diet. I have heard that in order to lose a lb., you must burn an extra 3500 calories. If you figure out how many calories you are consuming, you can cut it back by 300 or so per day, and add excersize to burn off an additional 200. Then you should theoretically lose one pound in a week. Hope this helps.

I am so depressed. my life is hell. When i look in the mirror and see my 250 lb flubber i want to die. my friends have all gone on diets and look as gorgeous as geri halliwell but i am still as obese as a whale.when i ask them about this they say they'd much rather have my generous boobs but i'd much rather have a bum that fits into oridnay size 6 jeans. Whe I went to this slumber party with all the cool girls my nightshirt burst open and my huge stomach flopped out like a bowl of jello- now they look at me as if i'm a freak. i feel out of place and I diet all the time but i binge like crazy. i am considering anorexia- it seems like the only way out- and yet i know it wouldn't last. I have toget my school uniform specially made coz my waist is 42!!!! Please help me before I hurt myself

I don't know if this helps, or if you even have one of these around, but if your parents are willing to help you, you should consider joining Weight Watchers. I joined that and it's helped me make a change by eating less and exercising more. It does, though, cost $12 per week. If you are one of those persons that step on the scale a few times a day, like I used to do, it really depresses you. Learn to do it no more than one time per week, and write your progress down. If you go up, then tough... Just remember that it's the overall progress that you should look at. You didn't gain weight overnight, so you won't lose it overnight.
