i should also probably add that i used to weigh about 160 pounds but now i am down to about 128-133. i'm about 5'5 or 5'6. i lost the weight over about a 3 or 4 year period. all i did was cut out the junk food and for sweets i have stuff like vanilla wafers or angel food cake (very low in fat). turkey sandwiches are low fat too. i eat a lot of grapes and low fat yogurt too. my parents cook nothing but healthy stuff and there's not even any junk food in my house. and i don't eat bad when i go out either. i go to the track everyday and walk/jog 2 miles and then lift weights and stuff. i'm kind of stuck though, i want to lose about 10-15 more pounds but i'm kind of at a plateau thing right now. not gaining or losing. any ideas?

sometimes your body just doesnt go to any lower weight wise...i mean, your body is stopping because you are at the weight you should be at...just maintain it and you will turn out fine!

Hi ppl! My name is Michelle and I've got this massive problem (massive being the apppropiate word!). I'm 13yrsold and obese 'cos I weigh in at 160lbs-170lbs. I feel so fat and to make it worse, my best friends are soo skinny and totally unsupportive of my weight. I really would like advice on dieting and a dieting pal. I don't care if ur gal/boy, any age or any size. My e-mail is M_J_CHAPMAN@YAHOO.CO.UK. Thanks alot! P.s. why do skinny people think that if your'e heavy, your'e unfit? I can run as fast if not faster than most of them! xxxx

Hi! This weird for me cause we have the same name and when i was 13 i was in your exact situation! The most I can remember weighing is 170 pounds, but I was probably around 175 at one time or another. Now I am 150 pounds and i feel so much better! By media standards I am still obese, but to myself, I am the healthiest I have ever been. A few things I did: count calories such as eating only 1500 calories a day. I exercised such as running in place for 10 minutes a day. I am currently doing tae bo and I can't believe how much stronger my legs are! Try to take little steps. It took me a year to lose that much weight, and, eventhough I am at a plateau right now at 150 pounds, I don't really care as long as I feel good about myself. P.S. I am 5ft 1in, How tall are You? Good luck!

I have made a posting here before, but the people whe responded didn't exactly help. I am not trying to put them down, but I feel like I need a responce from a person who actually knows how to loose the wieght. I need to loose weight, and I need to do it FAST. I know some great tips, and I do them dailey, except after a month or two of doing it, it doesn't seem to work anymore. I don't eat a lot and what I do has next to NO fat in it what so ever, so I am really confused as to what to try now. I have tried slim-fast,diet pills, etc!!! But I just seem to stop taking them for some reason, and some of them have also had somre bad side effects. So if you actually know how to help me, please do. I am 5'8 and 135-140lbs! Thanks I would really appreciate some help!

Your prescription: exercising, eating right, and lots of water. You should exercise, because it tones up your muscles, and muscles burns a LOT more calories than fat. You should eat right, because it's good for you, and you should treat your body with respect. You should drink lots of water, especially inbetween meals, when you're most likely to pig out. Did you know: When you're thirsty, you're probably already dehydrated. So drink up! I know this works, because I've lost about 13 pounds so far. One bad part about exercising is that you hit plateaus. I'm on one right now. That's when you can't lose any more weight, and that means that you need to add more intensity to your workout. e-mail me at thelittlekittymermaid3@yahoo.com. We can support each other, and I'll help you when you hit your first plateau. God Bless!!! You can do it!!!

I think you are too hard on yourself. Losing 20 pounds is a major accomplishment. Maybe you feel worse because you have been focusing on it for a long time. You have done a wonderful job. Don't give up! Instead of thinking you look terrible, try to think about good things about yourself. Here are a few: You are a hard worker! You're not afraid to ask for help! You are strong! You obviously care enough about yourself to write here.

They can eat whatever they want all the time. I just want to lose like 10-15 pounds but i eat to much. I eat all the time just cause i'm bored. I just feel like not eating all the time but then my mom maked me eat.I'm statrting to get really fed up!

Hi Kelly, I know, it's hard NOT to compare yourself to your friends. But the more you worry about how you look, and don't do something about it, the worse your self image will become. I am sure that you are not fat, you just don't feel comfortable. I would tell your mom how you feel about your body. One thing I have learned about excercise and weightloss is that you should keep your body guessing with what type of excercise you do. Volley ball is great! I used to play myself(your right, those spandex don't exactly compliment everyones figure -especially the shiny ones!) After the season ended I joined a health club with my family. I only go three days a week I go-but I try different things all the time-and started weight training and I have reached my goal SIZE.-I look much better now even though I weigh more because of the muscle I have put on. It eat when I am hungry and not when I am bored or sad like before. Listen to your body-not to your friends bodies. GOOD LUCK!!! (view less)
