At 5'6 125 is a great weight! I'm 5'6 and a lot more than 125. I would do anything to be your weight. Be happy for who you are. Plus If you're working out, you must have a lot of muscle which weighs more than fat so stop complaining! I'm sure you look great

Hey Peeples, How Goes it??? What the hell is your guys' obsession with losing weight so FAST??!! You have your entire lives ahead of you!! I can say this much, it's better to take the time and lose REAL weight than freak diets, WHICH, in the end, force you to gain it back in a few days. Losing poundage for the most trivial things like...HMMM...dances, or back to school, is gay and wrong, gay and wrong. You arn't taking your problems seriously. You lose weight when you feel motivated enough. You cant jump into something just for a formal dance, mmmk. When it happens, it just happens. If you don't think you can fall through with a plan, thats ok, it's fine, you just arn't ready. A lot of you people on here are 10 or 11 years old. Not that thats and excuse to NOT lose weight, but being chubby is not the end of the world. Believe me here, sometimes it doesnt matter how you look, the unhappiness is still there. If anyone would like to know MY diet secrets for going from 140 to 125 in 2 months, and diets tips to maintain your weight- just reply** l8ter-PEACE

Wanting to lose weight by a certain date or whatever isnt neccsarily a bad thing as long as its realistic people need to set goals for themselves.

well if you're like 4' then you're heavy, but if you're 6' then you're anerexic. It depends on your height.

Hi Everyone! I am 5'10 and weigh about 230 pounds. I have been overweight since about Grade 4 and I want to lose some of it now and get down to 160 pounds. Is there anyway that I could lose 70 pounds in about 3 months or so??

Andrew~I think that trying to lose 70lbs in three months would be VERY UNHEALTHY, if not impossible. Everyone wants to see results quickly, for whatever they set out to do, but losing weight is one of those things were quick results are not the best results. The best goal to have for losing weight to is to lose only about a half of a pound (1/2) to 2 pounds per week (for 70lbs that would take about 35 weeks, or 8 1/2 months). I know that sounds like a crazy, long amount of time but that is the most healthy way to lose weight. If you lose weight too quickly your body will lose important nutriants that it needs, also the rate at which your body uses engery will slow because it will think that you are straving and will slow down to save engery--this will cause you to lose weight even more slowly. Also, if you lose weight faster than that (because more likely than not you'll be on some sort of 'fad' diet or you'll flat out be starving yourself) you'll be more likely to regain the weight as soon as you reach the weight you want to be because you'll go back to eating like you did before you starved yourself. The best way is to eat more healthy and smaller portions, but most importantly to continue to eat and not to starve yourself. The best of luck to you. Missy. (view less)

Trying to lose 70 lbs in 3 months is totally unhealthy. The best way to lose the weight is to do it the right way and then you are sure it will stay off and it will not harm your body. I am overweight an need to lose about 70 to 100 lbs but I know that if I don't do it right I may not be here to see myself lose all of that weight. Try to do it healthy and you will see the results.

Reply From Shelly, Age 16 - 08/14/01 show message replied to go to original board
Well there is no way possible to lose 28 pounds in three weeks. That is pretty much impossible. You can only those almost 10 pounds a month going on a diet. Losing weight doesn't happen over-night.

IVE BEEN READING THE MESSAGES THAT PEOPLE HAVE LEFT ON HERE. I COULDNT SEEM 2 HELP NOTICE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE LOOKING 4 QUICK WAYS 2 LOSE WEIGHT. I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE WANT 2 LOSE WEIGHT FAST BUT WHEN U THINK ABOUT IT ITS A BIT RIDICULOUS. U CAN ONLY SAFELY LOSE 1-2LBS A WEEK. THE REST IS WATER OR EVEN MUSCLE. UNLESS U WANT 2 DO YOURSELF DAMAGE THEN I SUGGEST U ALL TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT YOURSELVES AND REALIZE THAT YOU CANNOT LOSE ALL OF YOUR WEIGHT OVERNIGHT.

I noticed a lot of you skinny ones (yeah I'm crackin' on you again :) ) are comparing yourselves to others... mostly your friends. I do that a lot too. I weigh 170 (after loosing 10 pounds in the last month WOO HOO) and I feel great. yes, I'm still fat and all... but I personally feel very good about myself. Don't look at your friends who are aneoxic. I think not enough emphasis is put on how dangerous aneorxia is. Did you know that it only leads to death?? My aunt had it... she started missing periods... passing out, couldn't use her arms or legs sometimes because she wasn't getting enough energy. Forget what you're friends look like. And the models in magazines (if you notice... a computer has done up a lot of that, and they're suckin' it it :) ) You guys with the 26 inch waist and all that look FINE. Did you know that in the 1940s it was considered beautiful to have like a 30 something and over inch hips?? WOO HOO... :) Everybodys body is different... we're not all gonna be able to look the same. So... just YOU concentrate on YOURSELF... how YOU feel... if you feel good and all... you know :) Anybody wants to email me ( personal critisim or just buddy chattin') at Abbaaskid@yahoo.com

I know what ya mean jess... i get tired of it too. But these ppl have a real psychological body image problem,,, they really believe theyr overweight... Ive read that it comes from an extremely deep fear and pain of being rejected,, which they feel way more than most ppl. Like TONI who posted below. She desperately wants her mom to say shes beautiful. This is what causes anorexia which can even lead to death. We can help them and be their reality check. Hugs... ~caroline~ ... p.s. I really like your postings!

do you guys think i can lose 15 pounds in 2 1/2 months?any tips on how to lose a lot of weight around my arms and thighs? PLEASE HELP!!
Reply From Ariel, Age 15 - 06/07/01 show message replied to go to original board
Yes, I think you can lose 15 lbs. in 2 1/2 months. That's a very realistic goal. I would try roller blading, walking ,and maybe running for your thighs. For your arms, I would try weight lifting. Of course, you have to eat right, too. It doesn't help to burn off calories exercising and then put it back on, or MORE, by eating unhealthy. Good luck!

Hey everybody. I am 12 years old and 226 pounds. I want to loose weight by the next school year. Preferably 50 pounds. If I ate two meals a day which were low on fat and about 900 calories, and drank a lot of water, do you think I could loose 50 lbs by school next year. I wished I had people to talk to about my problem, but talking to friends or family members would embarrass me. I guess talking to perect strangers and not having them see me is the best way for me. Can anybody help me. Thanks a lot
Reply From Erin, Age 17 - 05/31/01 show message replied to go to original board
Brianna, hey! how are you? i'm good! about losing 50 pounds...trust me,you can't do it in just a summer. not to discourage you or anything, but if you do what you said you'd be starving yourself.i know you have probably heard this a million times but you have to go slowly and make life changes. and cardio excercise gets rid of fat...like swimming or bike riding or walking...and if you burn more calories than you eat you lose weight. and if you check your weight after doing all this stuff and its the same or more remember that muscle weighs more than fat. eating right and doing aroebic and strength training exercises can help you lose probably 25 pounds this summer. and if you keep it up during the school year you could definately lose your 50 pounds. maybe even more. but be careful... if you start overeating after you lose the weight you will gain it back and probably even more weight. good luck!! let me know if you achieve your goal!

Skipping meals could be one of the problem with losing the weight. You dont want to skip meals cause it can cause you to actually gain more weight cause your metabolsim isnt working fast enought to burn when you do eat!! Good luck!

I am 14 yrs. old and i am 5'3" and 123 lbs. I used to eat a lot and I really didnt seem to get bigger but within the past year or so I have been noticing that I cant eat as much and i dont. I exercise regularly and I play alot of sports. When I am not in a sport I run. Lately I have been giving away my food at lunch even my favorite foods. My friends keep asking me waht is wrong and I just tell them I'm not hungry. Today for lunch i hate a peach and didn't eat breakfast but still dont lose weight. I dont know what else to do can you halp?
Reply From Amanda, Age 14 - 02/15/01 show message replied to go to original board
Whoa girl! Your body needs more food than just a peach! You can still eat food!!! If you starve your body like that, your metabolism slows down and you will end up gaining weight in the long run....Also, even though you might lose a couple pounds now, you'll gain them back really quickly as soon as you start eating normally again...a healthy weight loss is 2 pounds or less a week....I know this doesn't seem like a lot, and it seems like it will take forever to lose that weight, but it won't come back once you lose it! You need to eat....Try eating more dietary fiber (wheat bread, etc.) fruits, vegetables, and try cutting down on red meat. And switch to low fat foods or even fat free. You can still eat at regular meal times with a couple of snacks as long as you eat the right foods. You can e-mail me at Newton6109@aol.com!

2 summers ago i lost 25 pounds and felt great, but when school started again, i lost control and started buying lunch, which was not the best thing to do. Now, i can't get any willpower to do it again. I have gained all the 25 pounds back and feel bad and i know i have to lose, but just starting is a problem. I came across this site and am finding it a great help. Most of the places around are for older people, not teens, and its great to have a place that understands what we are going through and makes it a little easier to lose by not selling anything or using those big technical tersm. Anyway, i would just like to say good luck to everyone here on their goals. Mine is 50 pounds, and I'M GOING TO MAKE IT.
Reply From Ariel, Age 14 - 11/14/00 show message replied to go to original board
Good for you!!! Everyone should have a goal and be as optimistic about it as you are. Just make sure you don't try to lose it all at once. Work your way there. Goals are not won in one day, or even one week, for that matter. Keep up the spirit!!!
