Walking in place, walking around the house, cleaning, exercise videos online! Most people who want to lose weight think they need tons of stuff like exercise vids and weights but really, you dont! You can burn lots of calories with your body alone. Before I bought a stationary bike, I didn't have much else other than walking around my neighborhood but even then I didn't really wanna go for that but I didn't realize that I didn't really need anything at all. You can make up your own routine of dancing, or just exercises like sit ups, push ups, squats, lunges, etc. I know that doesn't sound like a lot but it's something right! But if you do have things to help you exercise, that's wonderful and you should definitely use all you have to your advantage :) With food choices, I'm pretty sure everyone knows whats good and bad i.e. pizza vs. a little meat and veggies for dinner so it's really not hard at all to tell the difference and that alone can help you. I'm on a weight watchers plan, but before, I played my diet by ear and only ate when I got hungry and what I knew was good for me. So if you have a meal plan set up, great! If you don't opt for something that works for you. I honestly don't reccommend calorie counting because you can so easily get obsessed with counting and worrying about going over; so really, I'd use a different plan like the 'listening to your hunger' but like I said, use what works for you because you want to make sure you stay on plan for as long as you can. I know everyone hits bumps in the road, and that's okay but there's a huge difference between choosing a diet plan that is hard to follow and having it not last vs. using an easier plan by eating what you think is good for your body and a diet that you can live with for the rest of your life. So choose a plan you can follow and that can last! Lastly, patience. Ah patience. There are those who have patience, and those who hope to have it. Patience plays a big role in weight loss; exercise and eating depend on it greatly. So before jumping into this, think about exactly how you're going to do it and hopefully you have a little patience in store to begin with :) As long as you work on exercise and your eating, results will come, and so will more patience with your journey to help you for the rest of your life. I wish you a wonderful new year with great success and happiness ^_^ I hope you post more and feel welcome to this site because everyone is very helpful and supportive here and I hope you use that to help you. I don't know what I'd do without these girls on here, but I probably would'nt be where I am today without them so please feel free to post anything and help will be given. (view less)

This happens to me almost every time I start to diet. I'd like to tell you just to make exercise a habit...but it's not always that easy. I exercise 2x a day. In the morning I do a light pilates workout and in the evening I walk for half an hour. I just have to tell myself all the time, that if I don't do it while I'm thinking about it I'll never end up doing it. So when you're thinking about exercise get up and just do it. Do some push ups or sit ups, jog in place, go for a 10 minute walk. Exercise doesn't have to be a daunting task. I've started to love exercise and the way it makes me feel. I want to exercise more to get that feeling. Hopefully after u exercise you'll feel the same way. Don't beat yourself up if you miss a day or you eat a cookie...I think we need to do these things every once in a while to maintain some sanity- granted, u can't do that all the time but I try to do this once a week...I'll eat the cookie, or the package of M&Ms...just do your best, don't beat yourself up and good luck!

I know how you feel, Samantha I would try 130 pounds for 5'6 you know, why not for a mini goal 175 pounds, drink a lot of water, everyday, a lot of teen girls on here reacomand DVD workouts, or excriseing outside, try walking at first, once you get down to 160 try slow running at first once you get used to it do it a little fast and after that do faster... Ride bike, scctor, it dose not have to be a lot of money to excrise, jog, jumping jacks strechs. Eat less, veggtables, furits, and 85% 90% lean meat.... Loseing 1-2 pounds is recomanded on here... Swiming is a great way to lose weight, walk the dog or cat, or your friend's dog neghbor's dog. Ask your partens first... Dont give up reaching your goal just push yourself more, the more you do it, the easier it will be,, say to yourself, In order to lose weight is to eat less and drink a lot of water and excrise more often... I hope I have helped..

Magen buy furit, grapefurit helps you lose weight. Do strechs. you know ask your mom if you and your mom can do excriseing togethe. After school. Walk home from school everyday. Take a hike. Vacm your house and empty garbage, do lanugry, walk dog, do running, everyday in your back yard or join a track team at your high school, tennis, minture golf, Ballet Jazz, riding horses, swiming, do a jog, do strechs. They help. I know how you feel. Magen, do excrises with your mom, eveyday. If you lose 2 pounds a week you will lose weight faster then 1 pound a week.

Ht. 5'6", Start: 225 lb, Today: 225 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 225 lb - I used to use this site for weight loss help and such, but over the past couple of years I've actually become pretty ill. I gained a lot of weight, which at this point I will not be able to lose (on a lot of medications that cause weight gain, as well as more often than not so stiff and in so much pain I can barely walk, so eating right alone isn't enough, and nothing else is currently possible for me). It's really hard to deal with, especially the lack of control. I can't remember a time when I didn't feel like I was too big, but gaining 100 pounds in four years due to things that came with me getting sick (which comes with a plethora of other challenges as well) has been more than a little difficult for me. Despite it not being any fault of my own, I do get made fun of for it. And it's just hard to be heavy, period, in today's world. I can never find clothes that fit properly. I never look good anymore. So I suppose I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or advice on how to keep one's self-esteem up, despite being heavy. I'm at my wit's end struggling with my self-loathing that is mostly due to my size. I'm not really sure how much longer I can go on like this, so I need some help figuring out how to handle it...

Girlie, i know how ya feel. I can be lazy as hell. Talk to doc. That medicine you r on can be causing that. and if u cant walk, u can sit. there is such thing as sit and b fit. lifting weights, cracking out those resistance bands can really help. when u can stand, do low impact excersises. I recommend Fat burning work out for dummies (dvd). its really cool. i lost 8 pounds in a month just by doing the first 12 minutes! Good luck!!!!!

Hi Mike. I used to be 235Lb. Now I'm 213. What i did that helped me was..I walked 30min everyday no matter what, i do abobut 30 situps or as many as i can, cause sometimes i don't have time. I do 69 jumping jacks, but u may have to work your way up. Start small. I just started something that helped my mom. When she was younge she weighed 300 pounds at age 14-15. She also dropped tremendous amounts of weight. You know what she did? danced. So maybe it sounds goofy, stupid or a "girl" things, but dancing in ur room for 30 min, could help. If you keep moving and jumping and twisting, it's very challenging. So i hope this helps, i know i'm miserable and will do anything to loose wieght...I wish you all the luck in the world!

I lost about 20 pounds with ballet when I took it. Got from 210 to 190-ish in 9 months. It was cardio intensive, and I'm not sure how your class will work, but any activity is good. Keep with it, eat healthy, and you'll be at your goal weight eventually. And don't worry about everyone being smaller than you, if that's a factor -- there was a girl in my class at about 300 pounds, and I think she lost even more weight than I did.

Jumping rope is cheap, easy, and burns a buttload of calories.. If you're not used to it, you'll get REALLY bad tightness & pain in your calf muscles the first couple times.. I could barely walk for a couple days after I started, but around the 3rd time it wasn't so bad.
