oooh...i know a great one for thighs. The wall - sit. put your back up against the wall and and bend your knees, stay that way for at least 3 min. do it about 4-6 times a week. also, the good old squat is great for thighs. do about 20 of those every day, and they should be toned in no time. I know how you feel. I am 5"7' and 234 lbs. i used to be at 252, but by working out more i have lost a lot in about a month.

Hi!! I am currently 210 pounds, I have already lost 25 pounds. What really helps me is SWIMMING. If you don't live near a pool, then other things I try to do to keep active are to order or check out exercise tapes from the library. At Target they have really good yoga tapes like Rodney Yee's AM Yoga. Billy Blank's Tae Bao workout is soo much fun if it's gross and raining outside, but you need to clear a space for where you are going to do the workout video, because you have to punch and kick alot!
GOOD LUCK!!

hey...i know how u feel..my relatives used to tease me about my weight..i was around 5'2 and 150 lbs...but then my best friend (who was on a swimteam at the time) told me about it and offered me to try it...of course i did and it was SO hard the first practice!!..i looked horrible in a bathing suit and i was the slowest of the group. Now i've been swimming for 3 years and have slimmed down A LOT. everyone says that compared to what i looked like before, they wouldn't recognize me on the street. Swimming is proven to help lose weight because you're working a lot of muscles and the water supports your body. I hated sports, but swimming was different...try finding a sport that you like. It may be hard and discouraging at first but NEVER give up, you'll get there and trust me, it's WAY worth the trouble.
oh, by the way, i didn't have to change the way i ate! eat healthy though, but don't starve yourself..eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full.
good luck!!
p.s.: you can do anything if you put your mind to it =)

Just be more active in general! Walk, ride your bike, rollerblade. Just MOVE. Try to keep it up for at least 15 minutes at a time. You can dance to a couple songs on the radio in your own room! (Up-beat songs!). Good luck, I know you can do it!

Being on 3 sports teams, I agree with you. You can't get in shape by doing calisthetics, you have to run, and do stuff that makes you sweat because when you sweat, you lose weight.

It might sound sort of dumb, but at least you won't have people watching you all the time. Try running up and down stairs for a certain amount of time every morning and night. and riding your bike, sounds dorky, but you'll gain muscle. I used to be 145, and now I'm 140. I have been doing it for 1 1/5 weeks.

don't just COMPLAIN about it...i know it's hard, because i was always TEASED when i was younger. JOIN A SPORT!!! SWIMMING IS EXCELLENT!! i've done it for 1-2 years, and i've seen incredible results, i didn't even have to change my diet!! just, don't eat fries, pizza or any fatty foods, DRINK LOTS OF WATER, and cut down on the carbs (pasta, bread, rice). Swimming is good because it doesn't put pressure on your joints when you move, and the water supports your body. I'm on a swimteam, and swim 10-11 hours a week. When i first started, it was really hard and i wanted to quit. I hated how i was slower than everyone else, and the way i looked in a swimsuit. BUT I DIDN'T QUIT, and look where it got me. I'm part of the best on the team, so DON'T GIVE UP AND KEEP TRYING NO MATTER HOW BAD YOU WANT TO!!!

hey, i used to be pretty overweight like...2 years ago, an' then i joined a swim team. It really worked for me, i lost a lot of weight. you might find it tiring at first, but trust me it will all pay off because not only do you get in shape, but you also have fun doing it. oh, and i forgot to mention that i didn't even have to change my diet! have fun!

Yeah, I also disagree with John (no offense(: )
As Jessika said, don't run away from the problem.
And start running. If you have a goal, which is to get faster... do all the right things. Like, if you're trying to lose weight too... go on a diet (stick to it!) and run/walk, say a mile a day, or half a mile. But walk sometimes. Go slow at first, and gradually pick up speed after you've been doing it for a week or so. You'll get in shape for running, and lose weight if you're on a diet. And thinner people get tired out less easily. So that will also help you to get better, because you get tired less, which makes you be able to go faster. ;-) I hope you try something like this. I really think it would work well. ;-) Email me sunny680ajh@aol.com

I know this might sound weird, but I exercise at different times every day for variety...makes me feel like I'm doing something different. When I feel like that, I usually get more excited and get more pleasure out of the exercising.

i heard that spinning a hula hoop around ur waist help u lose inches off. and all u have to do is 10 minutes of this a day and u will lose at least 2 inches off ur waist and 2 lbs a month just by doing this. so if u combine hula hoop with other types of exercise and healthy diet, i think u will lose a lot of weight. i just satrted doing hula hoop. i do 5 minutes in the morning and another 5 minutes before i go to bed. hope this helped.

The answer is YES!! The more intense, the better, the more you sweat and all that, the better. Usually if you dance (guess it would be modern, but if you don't know what I'm talking about, then probably a choreographed routine like Britney Spears) will burn about 600-700 calories and hour. And 1 pound=3500calories, so if you danced for an hour a day for 5 days, and kept your normal eating pattern, you would lose about a pound.
