Ht. 5'4", Today: 185 lb (BMI %tile: 98) - I'm 5'4 and 185 pounds. I hate going to the mall with my friends because they are always wearing tank tops and shorts and i have to wear loose T-shirts and jeans or baggy pants. Even during the summer. It's really embarassing. Since school is starting soon I would really like to loose some weight so I can go back a new person. I have tried to diet but it nevers works for me. I have just started to exercise but it doesn't look like it is working. If anyone has any suggestions for me I would really appreciate it. My screenname is ReDHeAd4U2690@aol.com please im me anytime.

try to eat healthier. Go to http://www.nal.usda.gov:8001/py/pmap.htm and try to follow the pyramid, eating healthy foods. Start doing more activities, like walking the dog, or dancing to the radio for half a hour. Jump rope and trampoling also does wonders.

here's a great exersize- with hand weights. hold a weight in each hand and keep your arms strait out by your sides with your feet shoulder-width apart.move the top of your body down to one side- stand again and do it to the other side. i could really feel it the day after doing it so i hope it's helping me too!

hey guys- the man said he got out of breath by lifting his arms, not that it was impossible. i don't know about you guys, but typing on the computer isn't like doing step aerobics! to the person who posted the original message: it doesn't matter right off if you can't do anything physically demanding. diet is 75% of weight loss. just lose enough so that you can do something, or even be moble to start with. it sounds difficult and i can't even comprehend being imoble but that's the best advice i can give in my situation!

Hi tiff, to lose weight you need to eat less than you exercise off! Drink lots of water and start walking, even a couple of blocks each day helps. i started walking more and it really helps, i don't feel as hungry either. Hope this helps! Keep trying! Caroline

Hi. I kind of have a big butt (no jokes) and I really want it to get smaller, what should I do and how long will it take? Please respond because I am so tired of it being so big!

The eclipse thing at the gym (it's like running but smoother there is a platform for each foot and it kind of makes ovals so it's like a smoother running with out picking up your feet)has a setting that works your butt plus thats cardio so not only do you focus on your butt but you also burn a lot of calories. When I go on it I burn about 13-15 calories per MINUITE! I think it is so much easier then running but you burn more calories. Just play around with the settings to get to a good level of difficulty and to target the butt it should say what to do on the machine (on the one I use it's called plan 5)

Hello Melissa! I read your story, and you are not alone. I have belly fat also and a big waist and hips. What you can do (that I heard once in a weight loss magazine) is try riding your bike for 28 minutes 5 days a week. Not the best, but it can be fun. If you have a sister or a brother you can try riding with him or you can walk for at least 30 minutes to the park or school. You should also eat healthy you know fruits and vegetables. I believe in you. Maybe this is not the best advice from a 15 year old,but i try my best. You can also read teen magazines like Twist for example. Each month that magazine has questions for weight loss. You could also write to them about your weight problem. There are so many things you can do to lose weight. I hope this advice helps.Your welcome!:)

hi, shelby try pilates its going great for me. i haven't lost any weight on it but thats because im not dieting. Pilates has helped me gain muscles made my stomach flatter and my thighs smaller too. Also, it has helped me unwind from a stressfull day a t school it makes you more flexible and you will feel more relaxed... Thats my input

Ht. 5'5", Today: 170 lb (BMI %tile: 95) - Im 5'5, 15 years old and 170 lbs. For me, if i ride my bike on a trail outside, i cant stop working out like i would on say a tredmill, becasue i have to bike, to get home. This is the only way that exercising works for me. All in all I would say that the ride is maybe 40 minutes. Its hell becasue just walking up the stairs makes me out of breath...but I still try to do it.. If I did this 5 days a week and ate on a low fat diet do you think I would lose alot of weight? if i included weight training in here also? I need some help on my diet and muscle training skills and things. Any tips would be appercited!

hey yall i was wondering if i cut all my portions in half drunk nothing but water and did like two hundered crunches and twenty leglifts a night ...plus running on the tredmill 3-4 times a week ...will i lose weight...also....should i put weights on my stomach when i do crunches...my friend said thats a good way to tone up ur stomach is that true?
Reply From Angel, Age 15 - 07/25/03 - IP#: 151.204.222.xxx show message replied to go to original board
hey, well u dont wanna over do it there...i mean if ur gonna do the crunches and tredmill then i would say alternate, do the crunches every other day and the day u dont do them then do the tredmill...and w/ the weight thing, my friend said that helps alot 2 and she did it and i think she has a six pack...and water is good for u, i never use 2 drink it but now itz all i drink, and if u cut down on soda and eat half of what u normally do then i think u will lose weight, also eat healthy, eat at least 2 fruits a day. and u wanna loose ur overall body fat first cuz u could do 1000 crunches and get nice abs but u wouldnt be able to see them cuz the flab...so if u do cardiac exercises then that will help to lose body fat and then u can do the crunches 2 tone ur stomach...hope i helped

hope this helps. i use elliptical machines, most gyms have them in various forms at your weight similar to mine you can hurt you knees, spine etc. by bouncing when you jog causing injury. so low impact continuous motion is better.

Go for walks, more and more each day. Go as far as you can and slowly work your way up, it works! Also, watch what you eat. No more soda or sweets or junk. Eat apples! :) Good luck!
