here's two inspiring quotes:
"Failure is never fatal, success is never final; it is the courage to continue that counts."
and
"Trying is Succeeding."

Guess what I read! A experimental place set up a test, they took 20 obese men and divided them into 2 groups. Each group got the same diet, but one group got 2 cups of lowfat yogurt instead of something else in their diet. After a month the group with the yogurt had lost 12 lbs more than the other group! They said that milk, yogurt, cheese, stuff like that can help you lose weight, so be sure to have at least 1 serving of that a day!

OK. I don't know if anyone will even see this since it is so far back, but I was reading through all the pages ( I'm new here), and saw this and yes Grace, you are right. I've heard a lot about calcium helping you lose weight. And you dont have to eat fatty stuff to get it either. 1 cup of skim milk has 90 calories in it, no fat, and 30% calcium (D.V.). Lots of things I have read say to get 3 cups of milk a day and this will help, as long as you count those (less than 300) calories toward your total limit for the day. (:

give yourself small goals every day. Don't drink sodas, don't give into fries or candy, and cut what you usually eat in half. HOWEVER, if you're in some sort of sport (i'm a swimmer), eating too little will cut down your energy and you'll feel sleepy and tired...just eat right, lots of fruits and veggies, LOTS OF WATER, low carbs etc....good luck!! (p.s.: remember...just because you're trying out for cheerleading doesn't mean you have to change your body...start liking yourself the way you are, seriously!! it will give you more motivation for your goals in life!!)

I just wanted to tell ya'll about a tip that I got before I started losing wieght about 2 years ago. That would be set mini goals. I was 170 pounds and wanted to be about 135, so everynight I went to bed wishing I would be 135 pounds, and of course, when i woke up in the morning, I was still 170. So, then, I combined calorie counting and exercise, and made a goal of 165, I told myself if I could reach that, then i could do all of it, and 5 pounds didn't seem like such a big deal, and really, it wasn't. I kept doing that. At 165, I aimed for 160, at 160 it was 155, at 155 it was 150, at 150, it was 145. Now I'm at 143 pounds, and yes, i still have a goal of 135, but first it's 140. I feel so much better about myself, and I'm healthier, remember, one step at a time will lead you to a better life!

Here's something that worked for me. Try biking or walking for 15 minutes every day and maybe night. Try to do other things like basketball, play catch at home. Try to be physically active. GOOD LUCK!

I know this will be deleted but maybe some will see it. How come you all have to lose weight? Im 15, 5'9" and 300 pounds and im happy. Sure im not the healthiest but this site really does need to teach kids they need to feel good about themselves. All this site really says is if you are overwheight you need to lose weight, wich could be taken many ways. Please try to promote size accpetance, this site promotes bullies, it does not really help! And some of these posts are not good! I only read a few but one said to stop eating all carbs...that is not healthy! To be healthy one must eat a balanced diet that consists of all foods. Please do not delete this post, that will only prove my points. Being overwheight can lead to suicide or unhealthy habbits, many forming from depression because one is fat. And all this site seems to say is that they are right, the person is really fat and needs to lose weight, wheres the size acceptance?

Promoting self exceptance is a great thing, and whenever i post about losing weight I always tell people they need to accept themselves. But, being overweight is damaging to people's social lives and especially their health. If people aren't happy with themselves, they should change. If that means losing weight, exercising, getting a different job, read more, whatever, as long as it improved quality of life, it will be a good thing. Thanx for your concern, tho.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to know...Is there some way to get more energy? I'm pretty lazy, and I always seem tired. Because of this, I don't exersize as often as I should? Is there anything I can do?
Reply From ~*~Court~*~, Age 14 - 08/04/02 - IP#: 66.183.148.xxx show message replied to go to original board
Umm that's tricky cuz I have the same problem most days myself...but I find that when I exercise in the morning, I have more energy for the day. Exercise gives you energy...believe it or not...and I know it's hard to get up and do something, I have a lot of trouble with that...but when you do, you'll find that you feel much better. Also, are you getting enough food? When I don't eat enough, I have low energy... sleep can also provide more energy. Well hope I've helped a little :)

A lot of you are talking about like, week long diets where you lose up to 10-15 lbs. I just want to tell you that it's water weight. Don't try something that you can't see yourself doing for the rest of your life. (maybe not as strict once u lose what u want) But otherwise if you go back to a junk food diet, you'll gain it back. Exercise and eating healthy should be a lifestyle change, not a week long thing.

i was wondering if anyone knew if sherbert icecream was fatining. my friend says it isnt and is ok to eat on a diet.
Reply From sarah, Age 16 - 07/20/02 - IP#: 209.98.117.xxx show message replied to go to original board
sherbert is low in fat, but it has a lot of sugars, which can be converted into fat if you have too many carbos in your diet. so a little bit of sherbert is fine, just don't think that just because it's low in fat it can't pack on the pounds.

sorry to break it to ya hun, but u waisted ure money. those belts have been proven worthless and can even cause burns. i saw it on the news. some people got 3rd degree burns from it. the shocks do nothing but act as a massaser and do not build muscle. if i were u i would return it before u get hurt.

ok, I was dieting and doing 4 hours or more of exercise. I'm loosing weight with a friend. I decided to go low-cal, and she, her mom, and my mom are concerned. I try to eat less than 900 calories a day, again doing more than 4 hours of exercise a day. Today I did 7 hours of exercise and 1875 calories. I binged because I was so hungry! But am I being smart dieting like this? I want to lose 30 pounds by september.

You probably have a type of bulimia, some types don't throw up, but over excercise, if you do more than three hours, than you definetly have an eating disorder. Get help, see a doctor, please, I don't want to see the same thing happen to another girl.

This may sound weird, but i decided i was going to go anorexic for awhile. Well now im addicted to it.And its scary. I wrote a poem about it..In everybody’s mind Are two visions that they see An image of themselves And one of who they dream to be The dream is full of curves Hearts of gold and smiling light While self image is in a corner Growing darker, out of sight Soon the dream becomes more real So pure and easy to attain All that’s needed is a path Into this idolized domain The first step is so easy Just a little less to eat Each night you lay in hunger Soon drifting into sleep Eventually the hunger Is a habit not a pain It's a guarantee of beauty That your struggling to obtain Self image is so clouded Obscure in hidden haze Self confidence is lost Impossible to raise The image in a mirror Is a picture of distortion The figure that you see Your mind twists into false proportion...
