I am still a rather big lady, but I am awfully glad that it is still going. I am now living away from my parents at university, so I have the temptation of having my own money, my own kitchen and my independence. I am now in my second year, my first year was difficult when it came to eating habits. My flatmates would want to take part in weekly take-out parties where we would all eat a take away together..I would also buy cheap, quick food but have always enjoyed cooking. The problem is also, that (even if I do say so myself..) I am very good at baking.. My housemates love it. But right now, enough is enough. I have cut out eating anything that comes from anything with eyes, so no meat, no fish, no dairy and no eggs. I'm practically vegan...but I'm no hippy, so it's simply for health reasons. I don't need anyone telling me about 'lack of protein' because there is protein in a LOT of the foods I am eating, so it's all good. I am thinking of taking omega 3 and multivitamins so I get all that I need. I started this lifestyle change on wednesday and I feel amazing! I have 3 healthy meals a day and 2 snacks of either fruit or vegetables and drink at least 2 litres of water and 2 cups of green tea a day. I am lactose intolerant so I have replaced cows milk with soy milk (which makes lovely hot cocoa btw..) and yeah, all is good. I sleep better, my mood is better. Life is dandy. Ht. 5'8", Start: 225 lb, Today: 163 lb (BMI: 25), Goal: 155 lb - So I must have been majorly dehydrated because I was 163 Around November 27th, then had my time of the month, and afterward it said I was 165! I was pissed. But I avoided the scale for a week and I'm back down. I'm doing soooo well with my eating, it's the water intake that is my problem. As soon as I don't drink enough, my body holds on to all this water and my weight shoots up. Anyways, hoping to be around 160lbs by christmas, and at this rate I know I can do it. Ht. 5'8", Start: 225 lb, Today: 165.6 lb (BMI: 25), Goal: 155 lb - SWEET! So, now that I know I lost water weight, I'm down to 165.6 and steadily losing 0.2 pounds per day, so weekly i'll be losing 1.4 lbs. Definitely not an incredible loss but I know from experience that when I lose weight too fast, I gain it back and then some. This way, it will be steady consistent PERMANENT weight loss. I'm also starting a full time job at the hospital starting on Monday (just graduated college yaay!) So from 7am-3pm I will be busy and will be packing healthy low calorie lunches. It's just going to be hard not to snack at night which I am very used to. So at this rate, I'll be 160lbs by Christmas (mini goal) and then close to 155 by my 23rd birthday in January. I'm very positive right now that I can do this! Hope everyones doing great, good luck!

A huge HUGE help to me is this amazing website called loseit.com It is a website that lets you enter in the food you have eaten and gives you the amount of calories you need to eat a day in order to (safely) lose weight! Every time you enter in something you eat, it tells you how many more calories you can eat that day to work towards your goal! It is so sweet! :) Hope this all helps! Good luck!

Then I sit and cry because I am completely unhappy with my body. I haven't worked out in three days! And I have done this before, I know how to loose weight...why am I having so much trouble this time?? My biggest issues are dinner and before bed. My boyfriend is a late night muncher and I just seem to follow, (knowing I shouldn't) I need some kind of motivation...

its also good to get in the habit of logging everything that you eat, that way no snacking can creep its way in, and if it does, it will stare you in the face! Try the food and fitness planner on webmd.com or just log it on a piece of paper you keep up somewhere.

good job :) i used to look at it as a whole.. "oh i need to lose 20 pounds in 2 months" or whatever, but now i just do it day by day. it sucks because sometimes it goes by soo slow but in the end 1 pound here and 2 pounds there comes together and before you know it, 10, 15 even 20 pounds is gone. keep it up, you're doing great

Good luck. Exercise is funny like that. You get used to what you're doing and then you look back and think "Holy Hell, how was this hard before?" This has happened a lot to me lately. Today I ran 5 miles and two days before six and I remember about a year and a half ago when I couldn't run straight an entire one. Stuff is just funny. Just keep at your regimen and you will progress and it will be so rewarding not just from a weightloss stance, but you will better the quality of your life and will have achieved something special. I'm aiming to run a half marathon come July so hopefuly I can get that something special as well. :) Good job and keep with it.

Today: 150 lb - Hi! I'm 12 and I am sooo fat. I weighed myself yesterday and I was 140lbs, then today I weighed myself and I was 150LBS! I feel soo big and ugly and oh yea, FAT! Sam is right...if you weigh yourself everyday you can lower your self-esteem and your confidence. It adds stress to you and makes you think that you'll never lose the weight. Here's a couple things you can do: first, look yourself in the mirror everyday and tell yourself that you are capable of losing weight if you really want to. (It's 50% mental/50% physical)Second, keep a journal to keep a record of what you eat, how you feel, and keep a weigh-in page...pick one day out of the entire week...let's say Wednesday, okay? So, every Wednesday, you weigh yourself in the morning before you eat or drink anything. Write that down in your journal. Don't weigh yourself until the next Wednesday and then keep repeating. Walking is the simplist exercise, so try walking for 20 minutes three days a week or more. Oh, and drink lots of water. Hope that helps.

To put it simply you are either eating too much or not exercising enough. Weight loss occurs when you eat less energy than you expend. Sometimes we underestimate just how much we eat! Maybe you should journal what you eat and review what foods are problems like those high in fat and calories. Good luck!

Calorie and Fat gram counting is great. I really think it helps. I know that when I actually count out what I eat and keep track it really helps! It may take a little extra work, but it is definately worth it. Just try it, you'll see how much difference it makes to actually see what all you are consuming. Best Wishes To You :-)

The BEST advice I can give to everyone is to stop "dieting" or thinking of "losing weight". (both bad words). What you need to do is incorporate exercise and eating sensibly into your life forever. Stop obsessing about your "weight" and "diet". Do like I did to lose my weight, just gave up and starting my new life exercising everyday and eating right. I felt clear in my body. I still eat junk in moderation.(when I feel a craving I eat a little piece and then drink some water and go outside and walk). I lost a lot of weight in only 5 mos. I feel good in my new body. It feels good to be able to run and not get out of breath. It feels good to know my health is not at risk. My depression is almost gone, and my social anxiety is too.

Keep running...getting "hot and puffy" is no big deal. Just don't over do it! Pace yourself. Maybe, run for 5 minutes for first week; 6 minutes the second week, 7 minutes the third week...and so forth. Remember to DRINK A LOT OF WATER. This is reall REALLY important. If you running and don't drink water you can "dehydrate" and pass out! So remember to drink water! It may help, if you write in a notebook or calendar when you run and for how long you run. That way you can keep track of it and it may encourage you to continue running. They're going to be days that you don't want to run BUT those are the days you should especially run. Take care, Ysabel
