I know it seems impossible sometimes when we thing about the amount of weight we have to lose but take it one day at a time one pound at a time. Start with small changes workout for 20mins even if it's something simple like marching in place. This is a long hard journey but you can't give up or else it will just keep getting worse. I've only lost 31 pounds in the last year that's how hard it's been for me but we can all do this don't ever think you can't. Stay strong little chnages at a time and dont give up.

Don't fret, sometimes it just happens. I got stuck in the 180's for a long time & it was really frustrating. You're not far from your goal...when you really look at it, to lose 1 pound, all you have to do is eliminate 3,500 calories. Now make that you goal for this week...to eliminate 3,500 calories from your diet. Seems simple enough, no? So how are you going to do that? I'll give you some tips, but you need to decide what will really work for you...Let's say you take a walk...do you have enough time to walk for 30minutes everyday? 7 days of walking for 30 minutes will eliminate approx 525 calories! If you walk for 1 hour a day that's 1,050 calories in only one week! So, what about food, watching your food intake will really help eliminate calories...how about you drink nothing but water instead of juice/pop this week...is that possible? That alone can easily eliminate 2,520 calories in... (view more)

All I can say is don't get discouraged when you don't see results right away. If you eat well and exercise it will be noticed. And once you start doing both those things you'll feel better about yourself anyway. Give yourself an easier goal. Say 10 pounds. 10 pounds doesn't seem so far away as 70 does. Good LUCK :)

Ht. 5'2", Start: 241 lb, Today: 225 lb (BMI: 41), Goal: 150 lb - Hey, haven't been on in a little bit. Last week I gained 2lbs (I was down to 223) but I'm not stressing it too much, it was a bad week. Hope all is well with everyone else. Anyway my real purpose for posting this was to talk to the "old folks" on this board. By old I mean 18+. Listen, we have our own board so I feel like if we are going to come to the teen board and promote unhealthy, unrealistic goals then we need to just go back to our own board. Example, if I say I only eat 800calories a day and exercise 2hrs a day (which is NOT true, just an example) and lost a nice amount of weight, the teens are more than likely going to try that. I hate to sound like anyones mother (I am a mother actually, to 2 children, I definitely do NOT promote having children at a young age, their father and I ARE still together) but do you not realize what you are doing? This is definitely not to anyone in... (view more)

dont measure if you dont want to. the fact that you see improvment is sweet. dont dissappoint yourself by numbers on the scale when you see improvement elsewhere!!

Jasmine, the only way to get what you want is to put the work forth for it... we can do this.. I know its super hard but baby steps... its like anything else in life, but it seems to be the hardest... its just like school or work though.. you have to work at it to accomplish a diaploma or a paycheck.. the rewards will come if we work hard for them... we should work hard.. for ourselves, because the only person we can count on forever with is ourselves...

*comment to your comment* ---yes! definitely. Not eating will actually lead to you gaining more weight because your body goes into starvation mode and starts eating up your insides, which makes you weak and once you start eating again you will just gain lots of weight back and more than you started with. So eat every 3 hours and only a handful of stuff. Your stomach is like a fireplace, you keep throwing wood in and the fire gets stronger. We have to eat to have our stomach BURN the fat and the calories, our metabolism speeds up and losing weight is all about metabolism. Eat this way and work out and I gurantee it'll work. It takes time so don't get frustrated in the first week..your body will get used to it soon and then start burning. GOod luck!

i know how you feel, i've been in that situation many times before. Instead of looking at your goal as being a million miles away, just think of this: rome wasn't built in a day and neither were those thighs. lol You didn't gain the weight overnight, so it won't come off overnight either. to keep you motivated, try eating healthy foods and say to yourself "okay, my first goal is to lose 5 pounds" once you've done that, reward yourself with something not so good for yourself, like a piece of dark chocolate or some ice cream, and then continue with your weight loss until your next mini-goal. trust me, setting mini goals for yourself helps, because you're more focused on losing that little chunk of weight rather than the entire thing. hope that helped. good luck, you can do it!!

Hey guys, I am around 5'5 and 148 pounds. I want to be down to 130 pounds by July. I want to go slow, since I am not looking for a miracle. I found a great website at http://www.blubberbuster.com/height_weight.html - it's a BMI calculator specifically targeted at people between 2 and 20. I find it better than a lot of the calculators out there. (BMI calculator for adults are not the same for teens)

you need to define wat you mean by ASAP.....there is no quick fix....good things take time........if u lose the weight fast youll gain it back fast...but if u take time to lose it ......you have a greater chance of not gaining it back......reduce your calories...exercise for atleast an hour everyday...and drink alot of water......there is no magic solution ...its a simple thing to a healthier lifestyle....ive lost 10lbs in 2 weeks doing that.....good luck

Right. You are 11. My advise is that you forget about school starting next month. If you start, from today, to exercise (go to dancing classes, swimming, netball, football, jog, cycle, what ever you enjoy)and you keep sweets and chocolate and crisps to weekend treats, cut out fizzy drinks and have your normal meals with your family (no going back to the pot for seconds) you will loose the weight that you want to. Not by school starting but you will have lost a little bit by then. If you do it like that, keep doing it like that through this school year you can stop worrying about your weight and your appearance now.
I have been slightly overweight since I was your age. I have been miserable about it for 10 years!!!! Silly diets that don't work..... If I had done what I have just suggested to you by the time I was 12 I would have been able to forget about my weight altogether. That... (view more)

Yes this is possible because more than likely you weighed yourself before the things you ate or drank were fully digested and disposed of. Make sense? Liquids can make your weight change the easiest.

I fat and calorie counted to lose weight as well as 40 minutes exercise a day. It takes about a week to see any noticable results, but a few weeks before your clothes will fit different etc. Its heaps easier to just get into a healthy eating fitness regime daily and not think about the weight. Then youll put on a skirt or something one day and its just a suprise your like wow i cant believe this is too big! Its MUCH better to lose weight slowly cause i guarantee youll keep it off. Dont look at next week ill be skinny but in a few months. Be patient... it takes time! Just stick to it and youll get there. Any questions email me fruit_salad_yummy_yummy@hotmail.com

the weigh gain could be due to a number of things, such as fluid retention, or maybe you ate somethin or need to go to the bathroom. our weight fluctuates every day by up to 2 pounds either way as our bodies gain water and food and use it and lose it etc. SO, what the best thing to do is weigh yourself once a week at the same time, eg i do it every monday morning. also, a better way to keep track of your fat loss is to measure your chest and waist etc. hope this helps!

Scales are always different. You can weigh yourself 1 minute at home, and go straight to the gym, and 10 mins later and weigh yourself again and be totally different. Different scales weigh you different. At home scales are cheaper and therefore arent as acurate as an expensive scale maybe at the gym. Also, what clothing your wearing, or if you've had anything to eat or drink can affect sudden weight changes! I hope this helped atleast a bit :) Good Luck!
