Ht. 5'4", Start: 280 lb, Today: 278 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 115 lb - Guys, I am so sick of being overweight. It has seriously affected my life in so many ways and I despise it, but for some reason I cannot stick to eating healthy/exercising. I've been trying to lose weight since I was 12 years old and I've accomplished nothing; the only way the scale has gone is UP since then. When I was in seventh grade, I weighed around 200 pounds... that was about 6 years ago, and now I'm like 278. I've been at this weight(or just in the 270's) for a few years now. So basically, I gained like 75 pounds or so in just a few years. ANYWAY, I think I'm finally ready to accomplish my goals. I am sick of letting this affect my life so much, and I'm sick of being fat. If anyone has advice or tips, reply please and tell me? :) Thank you!

It sounds like you really want to make a change...so now it's time to take some steps toward that goal. To start off, you should pick a very short term goal, like losing 1 pound by the end of this week. Now, you need to decide what you're going to do to lose that pound. Pick something realistic that you will be able to stick to. I usually suggest cutting out soda & juice & drinking only water. It's a quick & easy way to cut out a lot of calories & water helps to cleanse your system & speed up your meatbolism. As for exercise, I usually suggest to just start walking. No need to tell yourself you're going to start running 3 miles everyday...it just doesn't work that way, you won't do it. Start by walking for 30 minutes everyday. As you get better & used to it, you'll naturally want to start walking longer & faster. Another easy change to make is to pick the healthy option of things you're ... As you get better & used to it, you'll naturally want to start walking longer & faster. Another easy change to make is to pick the healthy option of things you're already eating - if you use 2% milk, switch to skim...if you eat chips, switch to baked, if you eat ice cream, switch to frozen yogurt. Ideally, you'll eventually like to cut down on all of those items but for now, making those changes WILL allow for weight loss. The most important thing is to really remember how badly you want this, because in the end, that is what is going to get you through the entire process. & one final tip, avoid unnecessary snacking. When you feel like snacking for no reason other than boredom...find something else to do! If you want a snack NOW, just wait. Say you'll have it later & do something else in the meantime. You'll find that you end up forgetting about it completely & realize that you don't really need it or want it. (view less)

Ht. 5'8", Start: 225 lb, Today: 171 lb (BMI: 26), Goal: 150 lb - alright so i gained a pound or two back, i havent been paying much attention to dieting lately.. no biggie though. ive lost it before i can do it again. my sister and i ordered Shawn T's rockin body workout (its the same guy that does hip hop abs) and we took a look at it, and it looks pretty easy to follow but also a good workout. we're starting on sunday or monday because we have a wedding to go to on saturday which means food and wine. it came with a 3 day slim down program and a calendar telling you which workouts to do for an entire month. we're going to follow it for one month and see what happens. i believe we can lose about 10 or more pounds following the program, so ill keep you guys posted. i hope everyone is doing well. good luck guys!

Ht. 5'5", Start: 240 lb, Today: 240 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 115 lb - This is what Im really wondering, I have a very small frame, my doctor says a healthy weight for me is 115, with that being said, Im 240 now, meaning I would have to lose 125 pounds!! I have about 20 months to do so, so I wont be rushing it but what I am wondering is, will I have a ton of extra skin from losing weight? I heard someone say that people who lose alot of weight have a ton of extra skin that sags, or is that only for older people? Does anyone have any tips, I really have no idea what Im doing besides wanting to lose weight..

1 year = 52 weeks so thats 104 lbs if you lose 2 lbs per week... wow... you have more than enough time... They say moisturizing helps with the skin... especially stretch marks... recently they started appearing on my belly, but im moisturizing so they aren't even visible as much as they used to be.

ive lost 57 pounds, and i have a tiny bit of extra skin. not gross and saggy but if u pinch it, you can see its there. i think exercise, toning, water and moisturizing helps. or so ive heard. i personally never thought id have extra skin so i never did those things, now i do however, because ive got another 23 pounds to lose, so i exercise and tone a little more, and drink a lot. either way, who cares about extra skin, you cant see it through your clothes, but you can see fat. so just work on losing and try your best to drink a lot of water and moisturize. hope i helped :)

Ht. 5'7", Wt. 243 - hey i just found something i think y'all might like: 5 ways to make excersize fun!!!
1. You can meet new people. I once met a woman on the next treadmill and she should have been a stand-up comedienne. I don't know if the laughing or the walking burned more calories. 2. Turn around that bad mood. Did you know that exercise dissolves stress! 3.If you make walking your exercise of choice, you can check out the neighborhood for garden ideas. 4. People Watching... stay current in the fashion trends by walking around the mall. Yes, you are still exercising. 5. Exercise in the pool. Has to be the easiest and the most fun. Chances are you will forget that you are exercising at all. Good Luck! Laterz!

yall definately find a diet buddy...or friend in your area or neighborhood. My boyfriend and I started joint dieting 2 months ago. We are older than most of you, so it may be a little easier for us to work on it together, but it helps. Together, we weigh infront of each other each week, keep a chart and talk everyday about what we ate. When you buddyup with someone you trust, you are less likely to cheat and stick to it. Together we have lost 45 lbs!!! And counting. We were both always overweight in our teens and now that we are older and about to get married and have children, I don't want to have to tell my kids that I can't play with them cause I am too tired. I think it will all click when people realize that it is there health that they are putting at risk when they are not overweight rather than risking having a date to prom or not. Personally, I am/was tired of failing. THere is only one sure way to loose weight, and that is change of diet and EXERCISE!!! Guess what, guys? I've lost 4lbs! It's probably water weight cuz it's only been 4 days. But it's still great, because it motivates me. I lost because of my friend Chelsea, whom I met here at Blubberbusters. She told me I had an eating disorder, and that just made me change my lifestyle around. I stopped binging, and drank 5 cups of green tea a day along with a 1200-1500 calorie diet! So, for those of you who want to lose weight, I suggest you find someone to motivate and inspire you, like a SERIOUS weight loss buddy. I hope you all succeed. ~~MissyK~~

Calculate the healthy amount of calories you need each day to lose weight:1. Begin with a base of 655 calories 655 2. Multiply your weight in pounds by 4.3 3. Multiply your height in inches by 4.7 4. Add together the totals from #1, #2, and #3 5. Multiply your age by 4.7 6. Subtract result of #5 from #4 (your normal Resting Metabolic Rate) 7. Multiply #6 by your activity factor (your daily maintenance calories) Activity Factor:Sedentary: 1.2Light activity: 1.3Moderate activity: 1.4High activity: 1.6 8. Subtract 250-500 calories (your daily weight loss calories)

Girls tend to worry about lifting weights, cos we don't want to gain that man muscle. Trust me, unless your a man or taking certain drugs then you won't gain man-ly muscle while lifing weights. You will never be the size of those body bulders cos your a female. You can lift weights without worry, trust me. If in doubt, then research the topic!!!! Because of this fact, we can get "huge" and "big and bulky" and whatever other fancy words you want to use. We can get big muscles. We men can get big and bulky looking, the way that most of you ladies don't want to get. On the other hand, you females don't have anywhere near the amount of testosterone that us guys have. Because of this fact, you can not get big and bulky like a guy. You will not wake up one day and look like a huge bodybuilder. You can workout just like a guy, with big heavy free weights with low reps, and do big manly exercises like the bench press and military press and squats and deadlifts and any other exercise there is... and you can workout like this for years and years and years, but, because of that whole testosterone thing we just talked about, you will never get that "big bulky huge muscles manly guy" look that you are afraid of getting. It just can't happen. Don't get me wrong, you ladies certainly can increase muscle just fine. However, no matter how hard you try, your bodies just can't get as big and muscular as many ladies are scared of getting. Wait! I'm going to read your minds now. You are thinking, what about those female bodybuilders? Or even some female wrestlers and other female athletes. You know, those freaky looking women who look big like a guy. The ones who if they weren't wearing a bikini top, you wouldn't be able to tell if they were male or female. Well, just like I said above... you females can't get that big because you don't have enough testosterone. However, these "freaky" females you're thinking of, use steroids and God knows what else to increase their testosterone levels so that they can get big and bulky like a guy! I'm not making this stuff up! They all have, at one point in their lives, used steroids or a drug of some kind to increase their testosterone levels, therefore allowing them to get so big. So ladies, unless you are planning on taking steroids any time soon, you have NOTHING to worry about. You can workout however you want, use free weights all night long, use heavy weights that guys can't even lift and lift them for low reps, you have nothing to fear. You have no need to be scared of weightlifting anymore. (view less)
