~REPLY WRITING AREA~

Before you post a reply saying that your child is overweight or that you want them to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator. If the calculator says that your child is healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that they are overweight or that you want them to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

From Lynn, child's age 14

I need some help from you other parents out there. You see my daughter has a good self image. She has never felt uncomfortable with her weight, though the doctor told me at her last vist that she is about 25-30 pounds overweight. See, she's 14 and she weighs about 172 pounds. Sure, she has some fat on her stomach, but she has never had any probablems with it and i'm not going to ruin it with a diet. But now i have learned from my daughter that when they start track in 2 weeks the gym teacher will weigh all of the kids in her class, boys and girls, and say what they weigh out loud. I find this totally out of line and have spoken to the teacher but she said she has done it this way for 10 years and isn't going to change. My daughter doesn't want to do it because she knows that she's overweight and doesn't want to be laughed at. What can i do? Is there anything?
