~REPLY WRITING AREA~

Before you post a reply saying that your child is overweight or that you want them to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator. If the calculator says that your child is healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that they are overweight or that you want them to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

From Kerry, child's age 14

My daughter is 14 and about 5 foot 6. I took her to the doctor today and was a bit upset about how they went about it. i never knew she had a weight problem, but i guess she does. they weighed her and everything but after the appointment they pulled me aside and told me, "your daughter weighs 180 pounds. she should weigh somewhere around 130 or 140. It would be ok if she has muscle but she doesn't have a lot. you should put her on a diet beacuse she is around 40 pounds too heavy." it wasn't exactly like that but still, why couldn't they have just told both of us? it's her, so she should have the right to know from the doctor. then in the car on the way home i told her that she's a little too big and she didn't believe me since the doctor didn't tell her. then when we got home i told her to go on the scale and when she saw 182 and the chart i had in a book showing girls her age she agreed to shed a little weight. but still, i'm dissappointed that the doctors didn't tell her straight.
