From Tam, child's age 22 Sad update. Back in early 2020 I posted here about my daughter, then 17, who was overeating and secretly binge eating. At the time she was 5 feet and 1 inch, and about 140 pounds. I described her then as “chubby”, but little did I know weight was the least of our concerns.
She had developed an eating disorder right under our noses. Bulimia - the uncontrollable compulsion and biological drive to binge eat, and then the fear of weigh gain compelling her to vomit it all back out.
She is now 80-some pounds and still struggling greatly with her eating habits, confidence, thoughts of her body, and spending so much money on ordering food delivery for this addiction.
I know this doesn’t really fit this space, but I just wanted fellow parents to be aware. If this begins with your child, act soon and catch it early so maybe you’ll have better luck reversing this devastating illness. |
