~REPLY WRITING AREA~

Before you post a reply saying that your child is overweight or that you want them to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator. If the calculator says that your child is healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that they are overweight or that you want them to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

From Tam, child's age 22

Sad update. Back in early 2020 I posted here about my daughter, then 17, who was overeating and secretly binge eating. At the time she was 5 feet and 1 inch, and about 140 pounds. I described her then as “chubby”, but little did I know weight was the least of our concerns. She had developed an eating disorder right under our noses. Bulimia - the uncontrollable compulsion and biological drive to binge eat, and then the fear of weigh gain compelling her to vomit it all back out. She is now 80-some pounds and still struggling greatly with her eating habits, confidence, thoughts of her body, and spending so much money on ordering food delivery for this addiction. I know this doesn’t really fit this space, but I just wanted fellow parents to be aware. If this begins with your child, act soon and catch it early so maybe you’ll have better luck reversing this devastating illness.
