Ht. 5'5'', Wt. s-210 c-202.5 g-125 - I have a question. You lose wieght by burning more calories than you consume. So i burn about 500-600 on a regulary day at the gym. Does that mean i should eat less than 500 calories a day? Please reply.
Reply from anne, Age 19 - 04/05/06 - IP#: 131.229.170.xxx okay- first go to the website to see how many calroeis your body burns per day withour exersize. then, ask yourself how many pound would be healthy for you to lose a week? for every pound a week that you want to lose, subtract 500 calories a day(and/or work off 500 calories at the gym. that is how many calories you should be eating to lose weight. example: i want to lose 3 lbs a week (which is good for my weight- but probably n ot healthjy for someone smaller). i burn 2600 calories a day, then i work out around 400calories off at the gym, after that i eat 1500 calories per day to get a 3 pound loss. 2600burned+400burned at gym=3000-1500calories that i ate=1500calories burned more than consumed per day.

Reply from anne, Age 19 - 04/04/06 - IP#: 131.229.170.xxx no- you do not only burn calories during exersize- your body burns calories just by being alive. go to- http://ww5.fitnessmagazine.com/fitness/multimedia.jhtml;jsessionid=04PXFKCHKZQC1QFIBQSCCAQ?multimediaId=/templatedata/fitness/multimedia/data/1130272109023.xml&catref=ftn18 to see how many calories you need to maintain the weight your at, then subtract 1000 calories from it to lose 2 lbs a week or 500 calories to lose 1 lb a week and that's how much you need to eat just to lose- plus by exersizing you are adding to your daily caloric burn! such as today i burnt 2600 calories just for being alive, i exersized 500 calories off and i ate 1600 calories. my loss for today was 1500 calories- if i keep that up i will lose 3lbs a week.

Go to http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/dee to see how many calories your body naturally burns a day. You should never eat less than 1200 calories per day. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
