you cannot spot reduce. Doing a bunch of sit ups and crunches will only make your stomach stronger, not decrease the amount of fat on it. You need to do cardio, as well, to get rid of the extra fat.

I heard that the most you should do it 25-30 because after that you just get tired and you're not really doing anything to your abdominal area. I dunno if it's true though.
