Ht. 5"3, Wt. ? - Hey! I lost 20lbs so far. I eat every 3-4 hrs. I never skip breakfast. For breakfast, lunch and supper I eat 1-2 servings of fruit/veggies, 1 lean protein source, 1-2 breads, and a glass of milk. For snacks, fruit is great but better if combined with some protein like yogurt b/c it keeps me full, and the fruit is good b/c it has carbohydrates which your brain needs and since it raises your blood sugar you won't feel hungry anymore. I also am very active. Not just doing exersize once a day, but being active all day long is very important. If you're watching tv, do jumping jacks or lift weights during commercials. If you're going somewhere, bike there instead of driving. If you are going to eat sweets, it's better to eat your meal first, then wait about 15 minutes, then have a small peice of something b/c you won't be hungry. It took me only about 1.5 months to lose 20lbs. And the way I eat I have a lot of energy all day so I feel like being active. Even when I'm with friends, instead of staying in, I always suggest we go somewhere biking or rollerblading, or play soccer or basketball outside. I also just got a guitar which takes my mind off food. I hope this helps and good luck everyone!

Reply from Shan, Age 19 - 05/14/06 - IP#: 24.201.88.xxx ok here's an example....Breakfast: toast, 1% cottage cheese(or a boiled egg) and a fruit, OR a bowl of cereal and a fruit. Lunch and dinner: veggies (1/2 the plate), fish/lean mt/chicken (the size of your fist), 1-2 breads or rice, OR a salad with a lot of lettuce and some tuna and bread on the side. Snacks in between: -1 tbsp peanut butter with an apple. -1 glass milk with a fruit. -yogurt/ cottage cheese with fruit or fresh veggies. -4-6 whole grain crackers with bean dip -frozen fruit/milk smoothie -1/2 cup bran cereal with 1/4 cup milk -1 slice bread with chicken rice soup. Basically a snack is a much smaller portion of a meal. It's good to have both carbohydrates and protein in the snack, but if you're full after for example just a fruit then don't eat more.
