Ht. 5'0", Wt. 139 - a lot of people say they run in place for exercize when they don't have a treadmill or can't run outside. does this really help? is it just like running? thanks for any replies!

I would deffinately wouldn't reccomend it. it seems like part of the effectiveness of running comes from pushing yourself forward with your legs. You don't really get that in running in place. Besides, I can run in place for a really long time without getting tired, when I dont last as long when I am actually running. It would be better than nothing, but try to find something else. Videos are a great thing when you can't go outside or have any equipment.

running on a treadmill or outside is better for you, but running in place is still being active so..its no that bad

Lets just put that any way of moving your body is good. If you can only run in place then do it because it will help!!

It is like running, as long as you push yourself to go fast.
