My mile time was slow!! I started eating right and giving it my all when I ran. I also learned that slow and stedy gets you to the end. SO jogging is great too not just running. I mean I have a super slow 200m sprint but I can jog a lap in 2 minutes. Just figure at what works for you and do it. Also make sure your drinking all day long and not just before you run. If you drink water all day long it will be in your muscles already but if you chug before a run it's sitting in your stomach and will give you a side cramp. Also eat right because nutrition is the most inportant thing in exerciseing. I eat a powerbar 1 and 1/2 before I run cross country. It keeps me going. YOu can do it!!
Reply from Elise, Age 17 - 08/26/06 - IP#: 68.215.20.xxx Well, recently I've come with the same obstacle except its for three miles...not one. Anyways, the cross country coach told me that I should try to do the whole three miles but if I can absolutely run no further to walk fast until I can keep running. I suggest you do this with the one mile because not only will it help you in the long run, but also, you will be able to chart your improvements. But whatever you do, do not stop...and don't cheat it by walking longer than you have to. Good luck.
