Ht. 5'2", Wt. 149 - Hi guys! i have a problem.. i do want to lose weight because the senior's batch pictorial is coming ahead (on july 2007). that means i have a little over 7 months to do it. is 30 pounds or more a realistic goal? well, i am a college student and i do have a lot of school works and organizational activities. i sleep at like, 2 am and wake up at like 6 am.. and i go home at different times(depending on what came up at school-- sometimes 12:30 pm, 4 30 pm, 7 pm, or 10 pm).. do you guys suggest that i wake up extra early to exercise or just exercise for like an hour after i get home or when i have time? and yeah, who would like to be my weightloss buddy? yey! let's keep each other motivated!

yeah, i think i do need a lot more sleep.. cuz right, i drink coffee a lot(LOT! like 3 to 4 cups a day depending on how late i am going to sleep). i'll keep in mind that i need a lot of water and i can distribute meals through out the day.. thanks a lot for all your suggestions!

Yeah, it's definetly realistic! But first you have to get a few other things in shape ;) Firstly, try getting more sleep. It's healthy to get 6-8 hours of sleep a day, depending on your schedule, and it'll give you more energy during the day. That also plays into weight loss because if you're tired you tend to drink energy drinks or coffee, and both of which are bad for you. And if you do drink coffee, try quitting or minimizing it to a cup a day. And yes, that means no whipped cream or chocolate sprinkles ;) But if you absolutely cannot live without that you could always treat yourself to a nice coffee every Sunday/Saturday as your "special treat" - that's what I do with pizza ;) After that I'd suggest buying lots of healthy things and throwing stuff like chips, sodas, and junk food away. Foods that I like are fruits (grapes, kiwis, pears, strawberries), vegetables (carrots, broccli, asparagus), salad (get a dark green salad, because iceberg lettuce has NO nutritional value. And if you want to get even more in fit buy spinach salad - it's amazingly healthy. And for a salad dressing buy something like a Vinegarette or a low fat ranch/blue cheese), munchies (lightly/no salt mixed nuts [ALMONDS!!], reduced fat ritz), and other healthy things (cottage cheese, skim milk). Remember to keep water with you at all times. Personally I take two water bottles with me to school everyday and almost always finish them. Also, try eating your food throughout the day, instead of three set meals. It keeps your metabolism running and you're less likely to overstuff youself. Good luck & hope I helped! :]
