Ht. 5'7", Wt. 166 - Why is lifting weights important? I don't get what lifting weights has to do with losing weight I thought that was cardio

muscle is a wonderful thing! I can potentially be a cardiovascular workout if you do it properly. It speeds up your metabolism. It gives you nice definition. Muscle is lean so although it weighs more than fat you're still thinner. By exchanging a pound of fat for a pound of muscle you actually burn an extra 50 calories a day for doing nothing!

muscle burns more than fat. if you uild lean muscle, you burn more calories.

well cardio burns fat, but lifting weight builds muscle and therefore increases your metabolism. It helps you look more toned and stronger to.
