Cardio. Focus on cardio. Situps and crunches and everything help to tighten up the muscles but they don't do anything about the layer of fat covering them.

Walking will help more with your legs than your abs. If it's your abs your mainly working on, I'd recommend sit-ups. Try maybe 100 a day. 50 in the morning, and 50 at night.
