Actually it really is. A lot of the extras on the salad are really bad for you. A McDonalds crispy bacon ranch salad has as much fat as a big mac. Ranch dressing is made from cream/buttermilk so it does have a lot of fat in it. I'm thinking that if all you're eating for dinner is a green salad with grilled chicken breast than go ahead and have a little ranch dressing. Just remember the rule of dipping your fork into the dressing and then spearing lettuce. It has the same flavor and it saves you calories. If you're eating a side salad or something, it may be better to switch to a fat free ranch or perhaps those new salad sprays from wishbone. They have less calories.

I have no clue, but when I make salad, my dad frys chicken, and in my salad, I put cheese, cucumber, lettuce, red onion, alfalfa sprouts, and carrots in it. Sometimes I use croutons, or bacon bits. I use ranch dressing too. It can't be that bad for you.
