Reply from Julia, Age 13 - 03/18/07 - IP#: 65.101.108.xxx its the TV and the computer. i love splurging on TV and watching a lot of it. but when you do that, your mind isn't really "working" so you get bored, and go to the kitchen a lot for those little snacks every 30 min. to an hour. maybe less. if you do watch TV, it helps not to watch too much. Maybe you dont, and you are doing something different.

Like I clean my room or do a whole lot of laundy. Sometimes I'll play DDR for a wicked long time or something. The best thing that I find is not to go into the kitchen at all because that's usually when you just eat without thinking. I stay in my room and just come down for meals but one thing that actually works is to tape off your kitchen. This will keep you from just sort of floating/drifting in there and then find yourself in front of the microwave eating girl scout cookies (ahem.. personal example) or whatever. Good luck!

If you're eating too much at home try to go out with your friends a lot to keep your mind off eating. If you're eating out too much when you go out, dont bring money for food!
