Ht. 5'6", Start: 106 lb, Today: 176 lb, Goal: 160 lb - I've got a prob with my bf. he's 18. He's gained much, much weight since we're together (nearly one year). He stopped training and sports. He's eating junkfood every day. And he got a fat belly. When I tell him he should lose weight, he won't listen. I have also put on some weight since we're together, but I'm trying to lose it again. What can I do? Should I leave him because he's still getting fatter?

hi, thanks for your answers. at first i made a mistake - my start weight wasn't 106, but 146 lbs. so i didn't gain 70, but 30 pounds. still too much!
and no, i won't leave my bf because of his weight gain. but so much has changed since we're together! he does't want to go out anymore, just wants to sit at home, watch a movie and have a big pizza. when i convince him to go on a walk or so, he's telling me soon he doesn't wanna go further. it's too much for him, i think. he's already to fat for a long distant walk! i've tried to talk with him about his weight and so, but he doesn't answer. "It's my thing", he says. what can i do?

No!!! thats shallow. dont come up to him and plainly say "you need to lose weight." something like that could reck his self esteem. explain health problems he could get by gaining weight. explain you want him to be healthy, not hot. and maybe offer to lose weight with? he is worth dumping if he gets mad at you, drags you down, causes you to gain weight and refuses to take in what you say.

well, have you ever heard of the saying that love is blind? love doesn't see imperfections. if you would even consider leaving your bf because he gained weight then you don't love him.

Are you telling me you would leave your bf just because hes fat! Wow thats extremely hypocritical to all the people who are on here, because we are overweight and would NEVER want someone to dump us just because of what we look like.

i have the same problem but with my big sister. in the past couple of months she has been eating junk like theres no tomorrow and has gained a TON of weight. ive tried saying nicely to her that i will help her lose weight and exercise with her and stuff but she just says ive no willpower for a diet and keeps eating the junk. i wouldnt leave your boyfriend as he didnt leave you when you gained weight but i would make him think he's helping you rather than you trying to get him to lose weight.. like ask him to exercise with you to keep you motivated but it will be doing him good too!
