I gained abou 80 pounds over the course of about a year (very fast), and have horrible stretch marks ALL over my body. Not joking...stomach, sides, arms, back, breasts, hips, butt, behind the knees, even on the top of one of my shoulders! I am only 19, and I want to be able to feel good once I've reached my goa weight. However, I am terrified that the amount of stretch marks I have means my skin has no elasticity and won't snap back! I don't want to look like I've had six children before I turn 20! I drink water, I exfoliate, I moisturize...but I'm TERRIFIED I'm going to be saggy. Has anyone experienced this? Should I be legitimately worried? What should I do?

Reply from Lauren, Age 15 - 12/30/09 - IP#: 98.114.216.xxx I have stretch marks on my stomach and my sides too. If you were to lose a lot of weight, the stretch marks wouldn't go away, but they would definitely fade a lot. after that, i would recommend going to the dermatologist and getting some kind of medicine or cream that will make them go away. hope that helps :)
Reply from Jules, Age 19 - 12/29/09 - IP#: 196.12.233.xxx Barb, I actually went on a volunteer program in Africa and got E. Coli. I couldn't eat for almost two months, and was basically living off of water and small things like yogurt and bits of bread and fruit. However, I have lost another 12 pounds since I got better. Since I got used to not eating, my stomach literally shrunk, which means that now it takes a very small portion of food for me to feel full. Also, I walk or bike everywhere. Another piece of advice: eat until you're satisfied, not full. Just until you're not hungry anymore. You will start to feel better, too, because you won't have that full feeling weighing you down after you eat, and you can be hungry for your next meal. Eat small portions, move as much as you can, and don't stuff yourself...eat slowly and savor every bite!

Reply from Christine, Age 17 - 12/26/09 - IP#: 70.41.64.xxx I also gained a ton of weight in a short amount of time and then lost it. Considering the number of stretch marks I had, my skin isn't very elastic. When I lost weight, the redness definitely disappeared to the point of invisibility. However, there are one or two marks on the bottom of my stomach that were EXTREMELY noticeable when I was heavier, and now I can still feel them. However, they're hard to see.
