Reply from Amy, Age 29 - 05/13/10 - IP#: 98.247.253.xxx Congratulations Taylor! You have taken the first step towards losing weight. I recommend buying a journal or a notebook and writing out a covenant on the first page. Write down why you want to lose weight and how you plan to do it. It's important to have realistic goals so you don't get too frustrated or lose motivation in the process. The covenant serves as something that YOU wrote that you can always go back to to remind yourself of why you are doing this. I also recommend using the journal to write down everything you eat throughout the day. Note the time, how you were feeling, why you chose the food you did, how how much you ate. Note also how you feel (physically and emotionally) afterward. Finally, write down any physical activity you do. And yes, stairs and walking to/fro school counts! It's fantastic that you already do that because you will have something to compare to in a few weeks once you've begun watching your food intake. Do your parents know about your goals? They are crucial supporters for you because most likely, they buy the food you eat. Let them in and you might be surprised at how supportive your family can be. Good luck!
