I eat lunch at school every other day. One day I go home, the next I bring my own lunch. It works out pretty well for me. I looked at a BMI chart and the shortest height on it was 5 feet tall. If at 5" and 140 lbs you're only considered overweight, so minus a few inches and I think it'll be the same for your friend. Not obese just overweight.
It's honorable and kind of you to want to help your friend. But in the end the only person who can change her is herself. You can't force her to lose weight or change her lifestyle only she can do that. You could talk to her and tell her of your concerns and let her know you are there for her and are willing to help her - but you can't change her. The desire to lose weight must come from within yourself, outside forces do not help. Let her know your worried but let her make her own decisions - it's her body, her health. Not yours. Be a positive example by eating well and exercising and maybe you'll influence her for good!
