Ht. 5'6", Start: 170 lb, Today: 170 lb (BMI %tile: 97), Goal: 140 lb - I just have to tell everyone here what happened today...
-----
So, here I am on here, telling everyone that I would start monday. I did, but with a new gameplan.
-----
I had ceral and two pieces of toast for breakfest, feeling and I am somewhat feeling proud for not having my usual poptart. Then, after a sudden fastforward through (half-of) the day, I got to lunch. I work at lunch, so I did my 20 minnutes and decited to get some chicken, corn, and Mashed potatoes/gravy. Putting trust into my district for nutrition, knowing that nothing there is sold that is ovver 500 calories. I got into the lunch line, and grabbed a apple juice insted of a gatorade, and then it happened: the cookies!!! I could not hold myself back, so I told the lady 5 cookies (I usually eat 5.)
-----
Here is where some background information could come in handy: Because I work, I get (up to) $3.00 for a lunch. (Check; the meal was $3.00) I also get $2.00 (up to) to use on anything else I want. The apple juice was $1.25, leaving me with $0.75 to use. Each is $0.25
-----
Where did I leave off? Oh yea... so the lunch lady told me I only had enough for 3 cookies! (Jessica, I'm signaling somethiing) SOMEONE MUST HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TELL ME SOMETHING (God? Is that you?)
-----
It made me realise that I can't just suddenly lay off all the cookies. I don't know where I heard it, but research done has proven that people who totally give up all the sweets are more likely to quit their diets than the people who gradually step down from them.
-----
Long story short: I'm changin' my plan: By the end of the week, I will be having (only) one cookie, and by the end of the next, I will be having more of the naturally good stuff (baked chips, kettle corn, etc.)
-----
If anyone could tell me if this seems like a good plan, or that you heard the research numbers too, let me know please!

I'm the opposite. When I first started my diet I dropped everything unhealthy, it worked for me, I didn't have any sweets or soda for 2 months. I think thats a good idea though. Good luck!

Yes Andrew it is God! he will help you lose weight! what James told me take what you need, no more then one serving, drink water, instead of apple juice, small healthy portions, one cookie is ok once in a while, try Kosh bars, they are 90 calories per bar, there ones with furit now! they are soft and taste like furit!! I tried them, they are healthy snacks. Try them Andrew, they are really great, bringing healthy lunch from home..
