My average weight is supposed to be 110, at the most 115. I am starting aerobic kickboxing, and I was wondering if I am going to lose weight and tone up instead of just bulking up?
Reply from Olivia, Age 16 - 04/21/03 - IP#: 203.51.24.xxx I agree with liz, its almost impossible for women to become bulky through exercise especially if they are doing kickboxing or other aerobic activites. The only way i can see it happening would be by lifting heavy weights. However if you just want to tone your body more, then using really light handweights with many repetitions is the way to go. You'll get the tone, without bulk.
Reply from Liz, Age 18 - 04/21/03 - IP#: 144.136.144.xxx that sounds like an excellent way to burn caloires and tone up. It is actually impossible for women to become bulky like you are saying unless supplements or pills are taken, such as steriods. This is because we lack the higher levels of testosterone that men have which help them build up the muscles. It will definately tone you up though. Dont forget though that if you are trying to lose weight you ALSO have to eat properly! If you dont cut down your calories weight loss will be extremely slow. I suggest you cut out fried foods and junk foods, and opt for fresh fruits and vegies. No sodas just water, and make sure you are still getting enough protien in chicken, fish and meat because they help with toning. Best wishes :-)
