All Christians celebrate Lent, not just Catholics. However, I fail to see how not eating meat (or giving up anything else) prepares you for the death and reserection of Christ our Lord and savior, so I try spending more time with God because at least then something good is accomplished then just some nonsense about giving up meat, or whatever.

I think Atkins is unhealthy. Obviously there's such a thing as too much fat and protein, and I would think that's what you're getting out of it - too much of those things while your body isn't getting any "real" nutrients (from fruits, vegetables, etc which are high in "good" carbs). As far as becoming a vegetarian...I wouldn't reccomend it for weightloss, though if it's something you want to do for moral reasons, go for it. Just make sure you find out ways to get in enough protein, etc you'll miss from cutting out meat. -J

I am not James but I gave up meat once for lint and I loved it. I didn't lose weight though because I just ate junk food and not enough veggies.
