I just wanted to say that a vegan diet really helps you lose weight. If you have any questions reply here.
Reply from Lizzy, Age 17 - 04/20/04 - IP#: 4.33.156.xxx I am 4'11" and weigh 140 pounds. I was at 180 at one point and decided I was becoming obese. I've lost 40 pounds since I started a vegan diet/lifestyle change. I'm supposed to weigh between 95 to 110 pounds so I still have a ways to go. It has taken me a year because at first you don't lose weight. I gained a couple of pounds at first until I figured out a routine. I eat only raw foods in the morning: nuts, non-acidic fruit (pears, apples, bananas, etc.) For lunch I eat more nuts and maybe some rice and vegetables with Tamari soy sauce and then an orange or something for dessert. Citric fruits should be eaten when you have more foodin your stomach. At least I think so. For dinner, I eat tofu with veggies stir fried or with pasta. Nothing you eat can have any animal byprodoct. This will get you really used to eating unprocessed and unrefined foods. The only energy bar out there I know of that is vegn is the Luna bar. If you ever crave sweets, get one of these and don't eat anything with refined sugar. Eat fruit! Eat hummus from Trader Joes with veggies, eat however much of anything you want but don't get in the habit of buying vegan ice creams, sour creams, yogurts, etc. Most of them aren't all that great anyway. Eat nothing that's hydrogenated. That will eliminate all trans fats first and foremost. Also, visit www.peta.com This site will help you keep away from animal proteins and byproducts. Atkins is not the way to go. It's bad for your heart, cholesterol, etc.
