Reply from Michelle, Age 16 - 05/22/04 - IP#: 24.83.221.xxx ok, to be a vegetarian, you can eat milk and eggs..to be a VEGAN, you can't eat any of that..nor should you consume honey..if you are either, you shouldn't use any animal byproducts. Milk and eggs do harm animals. Cows that are kept in dairy farms are pumped with so mcuh drugs that their udders hit the ground and therefore they can't walk or move. Chickens in battery farms are caged with each other in tiny cages..their legs break, usually their beaks are burned off when they're chicks..they are pumped with an unnecessary amount of drugs..and then both cows and chickens are shipped off to the slaughterhouse. I don't know if you would call that "not cruel". There's plenty of stuff that you can get your nutrients and vitamins from that aren't from any animal brproducts. If you do eat meat, or fish, or eggs, or milk, you're also sticking a bunch of antibiotics, BGH, growth hormones, etc..into yourself And think about it..cows have 4 stomachs..they produce milk for cows..we drink it..we have 1 stomach.. PETA ROCKS!!!!!

If it's because of your animial rights beliefs then only you can decided whether you want to eat fish or not. Personally I think in order to be a vegatarian you can't eat fish meat or eggs. Milk and cheese are all right because it doesn't hurt the animial at all. But I do know like in the Catholic religion it says no MEAT on Friday but you are allowd to eat fish. It all depends.
Reply from Kelsey, Age 13 - 05/20/04 - IP#: 69.163.36.xxx No, Alex, you obviously know nothing about vegetarianism, soy products provide all the protein a vegetarian needs, and if your a lacto-ovo veggie, then you also get tons of protein from dairy and eggs,Vegetarians are so much healthier than omnivores, you dont need meat for muscles, A vegetarian diet is better for weight loss too, do you know how bad red meat is for you! Its also wicked mean to eat animals, go to www.peta.com to learn about how animals are raised just so we can eat them are treated...

I hate people that eat meat (I consider meat to be any living animal that has been killed for food) and say that they're vegetarian. I'm not sayin you'll do that tho! Just sayin if u eat seafood u wont be vegitarian anymore! Taa Taa JJ
Reply from Michelle, Age 16 - 05/19/04 - IP#: 24.83.221.xxx I suppose you could eat seafood, but then you won't be considered a vegetarian. I've been a vegetarian for quite a while, and i have started to lose weight and feel a lot more energetic. Cut off dairy products like milk and cheese if you can help it too because dairy products contain BGH (bovine growth hormone) which ends up in your body which can create a lot of unneccesary fat and cholesterol. Don't forget, it's for the animals too! :) Good luck!
