What I was saying is reducing carbs. 30% calories from carbs is more than any low-carb diet will give you. You can still eat several servings of grains.

To Kaitlyn: I agree low carb diets aren't for teens. But they work well in controlling diabetics blood sugar levels. My mom was diagnosed with diabetes and she went on her own low carb diet and her blood suger went from 234 to 104. So I guess low carb diets can be good in some ways and bad in others. ~L.S.~

Low carb diets are not good for teens, I have read that tons of places, so maybe some places it says low carb diets are good, most say NO!!!

Low carb diets can be pretty good. Even runnersworld.com is now saying cutting back from 60% of daily calories from carbs to 30% is good. They also have an article which says it's better to be fit and a little overweight than to be thin and unfit. I know that 15 pounds ago when I was on the "in danger" scale I was still healthy, while some of the very thin people weren't. So weight isn't everything- it's more about feeling good about yourself.

Wow, I rambled too much. I was just saying I agree in too many words. :O

We have the same problem here, except A LOT of people in the United States are obese and overweight! There are ads everywhere to lose weight and all over it says something about low carb diets, it is getting quite anoying, but maybe in a few years people would just love themselves for who they are and maybe there will be less overweight and obese people. Most of my dad's family is overweight or obese and most of my mom's family is the same!

first of all, whenever the thought of weight loss comes into your head shove it away. refuse to listen to it. don't get near a scale. then, add in a good regime of healthy eating and daily exersuize. just take pleasure in the thought that you're treating your body right. don't try to look for changes in your body or anything. just do this slowly and with the right set of mind. good luck!
