hello everyone this is my first time on this site. well im discouraged about my weight im 5'6 and weigh 153lbs and im really depressed about it. i dont know what im going to do ive been trying to do excercising and i know that muscle weighs more than fat so im trying to get muscle. i always have had alot of muscle but i want to lose about 5-10 lbs. im really depressed and i dont know what to do. any suggestions?

I have the exact same stats. I am 5'5-5'6 and about 150-155

i am 5'6 and my largest point in my life i got up to 153 too!! i know exactly how it feels...my measurements were small but the # drove me crazy...but now im 140 and its just from watching what i ate and exersizing before i went out or did anything...i still have 12 lbs to go though...good luck!

Hun, dont' worry about the numbers. Those numbers are tricky and very inaccurate. Scale numbers are the worst of them all!! However, if you want a number, I'd suggest you go to your doctor and get a body fat percentage. Even though that's not the most accurate either, it's still the best of them all. Muscle is an enormous factor in your weight. In only 8-12 weeks of resistance training you can gain up to 3-4 pounds in muscle!! & muscle is the best thing to have because every pound of muscle increases your caloric intake by about 30-40 calories! Please, don't be too concerned by what the scale says. I have friends who are the same height & weight as me yet I'm much thinner then they are because I have a lot of muscle! So relax and keep up with your resistance training!

try sort of cutting back on food. like, eat around 1600 a day to slowly help you lose weight, or around 1400 to speed it up a bit.
