can i just say that i find it truly annoying that everyone on here is giving up like sweets for lent??!!! i know not everyone is religous, but lent is a religious time, and it not an excuse to lose weight, at all!! you can do that anytime! during lent u are supposed to give up something that is important to you, and that WONT'T give benefits to you, like weight loss. just think about it......

Every year i give up sweets cuz i love them to death, and every year i suffer for want of sweets, and of course i get benifits, like not craving sweets so much. There is no way to do something without reeping some sort of benifit... Is it realy so bad to just recognize those benifits?
Reply from anne, Age 18 - 02/09/05 - IP#: 216.66.102.xxx i wanted to say something about that, but i didn't feel it was my place because i';m not of that religion. but yeah- i does seem kinda selfish and i think the whole point is to give it up to show how much you love god, right? or something like that. it seems somehow wrong to me- but oh well- i guess i'd be more offended if i was actually that religion and knew more about it...
Reply from kristina, Age 16 - 02/08/05 - IP#: 24.233.65.xxx I go to church pretty much every sunday and I go to a private catholic highschool so you could say I'm pretty religious. You can give up anything you want for lent. The whole point of it is to give up something you love. I love candys and sweets so I'm giving it up. I think its great motivation that you can loose weight from this and pick up some healthy eating habbits. You can give up whatever you want to give up. Theres no rules, and NOTHING is stupid.
