I could let go of chips, candy, coke, cake, cookies (notice they all start with C? odd..) BUT cereal and milk belong together! so how can I let go of the milk...? I love cereal, cereal rocks. I have it everyday for breakfast...Corn Flakes or Honey Nut Cheerios (no colorful frosting sugary stuff) and now my mom said that the regular milk has too much fat and cholestorol...and that there should only be SKIM milk in the house with all the fat drained out. It taste REALLY bad and it'll be like having water in the cereal..except for milk. I can't let the real milk go, cereal will otherwise taste like feet. Is the regular milk really that bad? Does it make you gain a lottt of weight? I only have milk in the cereal, I don't drink glasses of milk or anything so am I really gaining? I despise Skim milk or any other milk...I really do :o(
Reply from KAITLYN, Age 15 - 04/07/05 - IP#: 216.74.216.xxx Try skim extra milk by hiland. It tastes really good! And if you can't get it, if you drink skim milk long enough, you won't even want 2% ne more, trust me!
Reply from joale, Age 12 - 04/07/05 - IP#: 24.15.132.xxx what ushould do is just slowly go down. first go down 2 2% then 1% and eventually skim.
Reply from helen, Age 15 - 04/07/05 - IP#: 68.217.2.xxx i dont know if regular milk would actually make you gain weight i just think it would put some resistance for losing it you know... i dont know what to tell you about skim milk because thats all we ever have/had in my house... but if it makes any difference every body that lives with me is overweight....but a good idea would be have half a cup of skim milk and half of regular and mix that for a couple of days and then take it down to 3/4 a cup of skim milk and 1/4 regular and keep taking it down until there is no regular and dont think omg skim milk - EW think of it as milk and then hopefully you will get over the watered downness of it lol GOOD LUCK YOU CAN DO IT
Reply from Rachael, Age 14 - 04/07/05 - IP#: 207.231.98.xxx Why don't you compromise with your mother. How about switching to 2% milk, just for now. Then after 2 weeks or so, switch to 1%. After another two weeks or so, switch to skim. That way you'll be gradually getting used to it, and it probably won't taste as bad to you. And to answer your question, regular milk IS bad for you. 8oz regular milk=150 calories, 8 gms fat....8oz skim milk=80 calories, 0gms fat. And much of the fat in whole milk is saturated, which is really bad.
Reply from Christina, Age 16 - 04/07/05 - IP#: 24.233.65.xxx Yah I agree with Anne too. I used to be the whole milk girl up untill last year. I loved the rich taste and I loved it with Cereal. Once I thought of it as adding fat to me while I was eating cereal or having cookies with it, I stopped and just went to fat free skim milk. Now I love that and hate whole milk and refuse to drink whole milk. You should probally change your habbit for whole milk a little at a time. abye add half whole milk and then half skim and just keep on adding less and less whole as time goes on. Good luck.
Reply from jenn, Age 12 - 04/07/05 - IP#: 69.177.171.xxx well, i love skim milk. whole milk is soooo fattening. try 1% or even a little 2% those aren't too bad. good luck!
Reply from Sophie, Age 14 - 04/07/05 - IP#: 195.92.67.xxx I used to feel like Aida but now I agree with Anne. When I first tried skimmed milk I hated it, it seemed like water and tasted disgusting! But I stuck with it and now I love skimmed milk and full fat milk tastes like gloopy custard or something worse. You could just switch to semi-skimmed milk and then when you get used to that switch to fully skimmed, kind of moving in steps towards your goal. Or just swith to skimmed and stick with it. I promise it gets much better very quickly!!
Reply from anne, Age 18 - 04/07/05 - IP#: 216.66.102.xxx see- i'm the opposite- i love skuim milk and hate regular. regular milk is too thik and mucusy. blach! you'll get used to the change- it is a lot better. i mean, regular milk won't kill you at this ag3e but why not save some extra cals?
Reply from Hayley, Age 15 - 04/06/05 - IP#: 64.163.212.xxx I disagree with Lindsay. Drinking regular milk is like drinking liquid butter. Sure, butter also has benefits, but not enough so that it outweighs the harm. Unfortunately, you have to get along without it. Or you could try just taking like 1/4 of a cup, or just enough to get your cereal moist, and then fill the rest with fat free milk. Or try switching at least to 2%, although that still isn't good for you. Or stop having cereal in the morning, and have hot cereal or yogurt and fruit instead.
Reply from L!nd$eY, Age 13 - 04/06/05 - IP#: 67.5.210.xxx Okay. Here's the thing! Regular milk is fattening. It has lots of calories. But, it is very good for you! It is fine to put a little milk in your cereal, just don't put a LOT. measure how much you put in. Drinking like a small cup of milk a day is a very healthy idea. But mostly drink water! Good luck. ^_^
