But if you eat certain snacks that really do nothing for you nutritionally, then you have to eat more calories to get all the food you need. As teens we're all growing and to lose weight we can't ignore the fact that we still need food as nutrients. That's why we have to cut out junk food to save calories instead of things like milk, etc...
