Ht. 5' 6", Wt. I though I was 198 - Hey everyone. TODAY SUCKED. this organization promoting healthy kids csme to my school and gave everyone in the 8th grade a physical test and some equipment tests. It was really hard to run 3 miles do 20 pushups and 50 situps but the worst part came at the end. They made us stand and weigh ourselves (with clothes) and all my normal *not thin* friends were about 105 pounds. I thought because they were not thin but looked normal they would be about 120-130 but they were only 105. So thats just a message to everyone that 105 for a 14 year old girl that is 5'5 is NOT SKINNY. Trust me, after what you told me about ideal weight on this site I was very surprised. Then it was my turn and I though that I was about 190 and then I saw the horrific number 247. I almost cried. I had always told everyone I was 160 and they were like "wow youre like my dad's weight' and they teased me and call me fat-ass and cow until the end of the day. Then the body fat % of all my friends was only like 15-18 % which is perfect and healthy for girls their age but for me it was 38%. Even my friends giggled at how fat I relly was. Just now, they called my parents and said that I needed to lose until I was 100-110 pouns and my parents are like 'yeah that sounds right' so now I have to go down from 247 to 105, just to be normal. If I want to be skinny I gotta go even lower. Just a note: I think that many people on this site are saying that they should just be in a a 'healthy weight range' all that means is that if you weigh this much you wont be at high risk for disease. They actually told me that my absulte perfect weight (not skinny) was 108 pounds and 15% body fat.

Like switch to 1% milk and then work your way down to skim milk, use 50% light cheese, fat free mayonnaise (I prefer fat free miracle whip. It has more flavor) and stuff like that. Don’t eat a lot of butter. Try using Butter Buds which are butter flavored granulates. You can find them in the seasonings section at the store. Eat high in fiber foods like whole wheat bread instead of white. Instead of eating regular pizza try frozen smartones or south beach diet pizzas. And instead of ice cream try south beach diet cookies and weightwatchers ice cream bars, weight watchers cake, healthy choice ice cream, no pudge ice cream bars, or skinny cow ice cream bars. They have a lot of desserts out there that aren’t that bad for you! Some things I find helpful is to eat a small salad with fat free dressing with lunch and dinner. It makes you more full when you go to eat your main meal. Don't eat too many sweets. Make sure you don't have soda or chips on a regular basis. Eat LOTS of fruits and vegetables. And drink A LOT of water! Exercise daily. You can walk, or you can run, or ride your bike, or swim. Whatever you choose to do make sure you exercise for at least an hour daily. If you want you can just walk for thrity minutes and then swim for a little while and then just do outside play like jumping on a trampoline or playing basketball. weigh yourself every week and keep track of your weight. if you feel like snacking try drinking flavored water to satisfy your sweet tooth. Pay attention to portion sizes. If the serving size is one cup, don't have more than one cup. Portion sizes are one of the most important things in dieting. And remember to have faith in yourself. If you get yourself down it'll be ten times harder. And also remember to let go every once in a while and eat something that isn't in your diet! Good luck!

Anyways, you might want to consider getting some scales and weighing yourself, if you haven't already, then you would really know if they are idiots. I think that 108 for 5'6", even if you are 14, is too skinny. I think it may be nearly unhealthy. And tyhe 15% body fat, I once saw a chart that said 17% was what an athlete should have! so yeah I think they are a bunch of retards. Doctors really want everybody be close to underweight. the weight calculator says that if you weigh 99 pounds, then you are underweight, so they are just insane. That would be really just crazy. Just ignore the peoples comments, and try to be the best person you can be, and everything will eventually work itself out and everyone will forget about it. But if you really want to lose weight, then do, but you need to be comfortable with yourself at the size you are and just find happiness in yourself, or you will never be happy at any weight.

And that whole story made me terribly sad :-( Your weight and percentage of body fat is private -- i dont care if it is for school. i dont even tell my own mother my weight! haha sorry, tried to lighten the mood! but, if you buckle down, i know you can loose weight. you said you were a bit over 200? If you buckle down, yet work at your own pace, you should loose some weight since you have excess weight, but once you drop some and start getting in shape it'll be harder, g'luck
