Ht. 5 feet 7 inches, Wt. --- - ABout this BMI calculator on this site...for my height it says the proper weight is 101-150 pounds. OK alright I am cool with that. But then I asked my doctor and he said that 101 is actually *underweight*. About 130-150 is good. What gives?

While what lauren said is true..... 101 however does seem to be a bit on the tiny side for a girl who is 5'7".... being just about ur height a little taller...my doctor told me the same thing 130-150

Height-weight charts and online BMI calculators can only give general and broad information. They don't take into consideration your personal stats like your muscle-fat ration or body type. In fact, weight itself is often an irresponsible way of measuring your health because it doesn't take into consideration how muscle weighs more than fat. For example: Two people weigh 140 lbs. One is an athlete, the other is not. The athlete would have more muscle and may be at a healthy weight while the other person has less muscle and more fat and be overweight. Because these online calculators give such a large range of weight means that some people should be at the lower weight and others at the higher weight. I'm sorry if that's confusing, but that's what we were taught in health class. Anyhow, just listen to your doctor because they will most likely know what's best for you.
