Ht. 5'7, Wt. 223 - Hi, my name is Keisha. I'm 16 and I have diabetes and I'm trying to loose weight. Sometimes it's hard to have diabetes especially when I go to parties or going out anywhere because I have to count my carbs. Other people can eat seconds and I can't and I get upset. I got diabetes when I was 12 yrs old. It was a big change for me because I couldn't eat sweets anymore. Sometimes I have breakdowns and I'll go to the store and I'll sneak a cake and then I'll get sick. Now I'm trying to loose weight. My sugars are are under control now because I learned how to count my carbs. Are there any people out there with diabetes and trying to loose weight?

hi I don't understand how I did'nt get diabetes cause I weighed more than you 245 and same height and did'nt get them. Well I'll tell you this. My friend's brother used to all type of stuff and one day I thnk he got sick in school and they took him to the doc or hospital and found out he had diabets. so his grandma was like he had to go on a diet so she took out all the chips and soda in all that out the house and I think he just drank diet soda but its way better to drink water. Cause u can drink how much you want. Also when they ordered pizza he would eat one slice if it had meat on eat and if it had cheese he'd it two. And he lost alot of weight so. You know you could follow what he did but I would advise you to go to you're doctor's office and ask them what is the best thing for you. Good luck and when you do find one stick to eat I promise It will make you so happy. I have to tell my self that everyday. good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! I'm a diabetic too! I've had it since I was 10 years old (I'm 15 now). and I"m also trying to lose weight. The thing with us diabetics is it can be hard because we have to balence our diet, excercise, weight control AND blood sugars. Our metebolisms are also alot slower than normal people and our weight comes of reeeeeeally sloooooowly. I used to have a problum with whenever I excercised I'd get low and have eat right after so I'd wouldn't lose any weight. Well, lately I have been pretty sucessful with weight loss AND keeping my diabetes under control. The trick is take less insulin (either that or break it up and take more smaller shots a day) and eat smaller, more frequent meals and cut out everything high in fat and carbs. Thats what I've been doing and it seems to be working. Really, we are exactly same as any other person trying to lose weight, we just have to be more patient because it will come off slower and go on faster, and we have to keep our blood sugars under control as well. I found that cutting out all sugar compleatly except when low is the best thing. Sugar is bad period, what to speak of for diabetics. It takes soooo much self control, but if your hard on yourself, life is easiar on you and things will be better for you in the long run. It took me weeks of testing like ten times a day, trying different things, playing with my insulin and changing my diet (including cutting out ALL sugar except like juice when I'm low) to find out what finally worked for me, which is eating very healthy, low fat foods, lots of veggies and whole grains, low refined carbs and excercising as much as I can. If I get low, I'll have an energy bar or some cereal or something. Of course, if its a bday party or something, you can let yourself go for a day as long as you don't overdo it and make sure you go back to your healthy lifstye the next day. I find that once you let go its easier to do it the next time so be careful. Annnnway, I'll stop here. Wow, I sure rammbled on a bit. But hopefully I could have been of some help since I know exactly what your going though. Good luck! P.S. My IP address may be different because I'm on a different computer
