Ht. 5'1", Wt. 139 - Ok so I haven't posted here in a long while... but I am trying to start at it again. So for the past couple of weeks I have really started to feel a little self-concious about loosing weight and I have been thinking about trying something. I am trying to improve my image before all the peer pressure and all that crap kicks in. There is a dance in April at my school, not to mention all of the private dances that have already started. I'm well liked by just about everyone in my grade, i'm popluar, but i'm not athletic, not ultra-attractive, and not very 'cool'. I don't want to be one of those people who just care about themselves and think they are so amazing, I just want to be a little more social than I already am. I like computers a lot, and i''m kind of considered a nerd. I am trying to veer away from that, loose some weight (say 35-30 lbs), and get a little more social with the other kids in my grade. I also want to learn to dance better (I know hardly anything). So anyways, tonight I ordered pizza and cinna sticks for dinner, and I basically ate crap for the entire day. I might say.. 3000 calories give or take. It was about 11:30 when I finally got to thinking just how disgusting that is, so I decided to do something. I poured out all of the regular soda, threw away the left over pizzza and cinna sticks, and got rid of all of the junk food in the house. At my school, I normally eat a very small lunch, simply because i'm not hungry. But when school's out, it's a whole different ball game. I will eat candy and drink soda with no regard to nuttrition or self-restraint at all. This happens about 4/7 days in a week. Anyways, I'm really disgusted, and I want to do something. I've been overweight since about 2nd grade, only by about 5 or 6 pounds.. then more and more until I'm about 140 lbs, 30 lbs overweight, and 90th percential in how much I weigh comared to my peers. I know all there is to know about what I should and shouldn't eat, I just need a gradual plan that I can stick to. I'm not a whimp, I can do some good exersize, but I need to make the no junk food gradual, and I need to be able to forgive myself. Plz give me your ideas as to how I could loose about 25 lbs before summer. If it actually works, I will feel so good because I won't be called fat, won't be self concious with my shirt tucked in an no jacket or sweater on top, or just no shirt on, and I'll feel great! Reply from laura, Age 18 - 02/19/06 - IP#: 69.47.203.xxx i think its cool that u can be ure own person and still be well liked. i know what u mean about wanting to lose weight because ure self conscience and want to be more social. i beilieve with healthier eating, smaller portions,and eating only when ure hungry not bored or upset ( or snacking at the computer like i used to do) with exercise and all that jazz u can lose 25lbs by summer easily. i am such a sweets freak, if i try to cut it out of my diet i seriously go into withdrawl. i cannot eliminate sancks out of my diet or reduce them to once or twice a month cause thats when things go bad and i stay off my diet. i have sucessfully lost alot of weight be4 with snacks everyday, but i had to make different choices. like a bowl of non butter popcorn, frozen yougert or weight watchers ice cream, and my favorite would be fruit smoothies or slimfast shakes. that is the only way i can diet but the healthier snack choices , although i eat oner or two a day, so not cause me to gain weight. every once in a while i'll have movie thatre popcorn or a slice of cake but those high in fat desserts are the once or twice a moth type. anyways goodluck!

When you eat out, if it isn't kid's size (like a happy meal at MCD), soup or salad, cut it in half. Then you can eat the rest the next day for lunch or dinner. Also, try to cut desserts to 1-3 times a week if it isn't diet.(Like Skinny Cow, Healthy Choice and so on.) Otherwise you can have it everyday. And try to eat every 3-4 hours you are awake to keep your metabolisim going. Try to make you meals smaller as the day goes on. Like a big breakfast, medium lunch, and small dinner. This way you can work the calories during the day. And you need to excersize 3-5 days a week for 20-40 minutes. I hope this works for you!

But one hing thats been helping me lose weight is not drinking soda or juice just water. Not eating any I mean any junk food. Tryna not to eat fried foods but thats very hard to get use to. And I eat alot of fruit. Well I have lost a good 27 pounds so I guess it works. But u have to exercise to. Like a good 30-45 min Either everyday or 5 days a week. Goood luck for motivation think about those dances and think about the summertime I know u wnat to be slimmer and healthier in the summer.
