My beautiful 8 year old daughter is over weight. She is extremely active: softball and cheerleading daily. I never fully realized how "big" she was until last weekend at her first cheerleading meet when the other teams stood aroung to see the fat girl cheer. Thank goodness she did'nt hear them, but I did and it made me absolutely sick to my stomach. Cali is 8 yrs old and weighs 115 pounds and is constantly eating--she is never full. We have gone as far as to take all "snacks" and drinks out of the house but it has not helped. We have seen doctor after doctor but all they recommend is to diet with no other help. All of your help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You should remove all the sweets from the house and let them have fruit or vegtable for snacks. Also A little exercise would also help like we have a fitness program by our house called jazzersize and it's wear the kids dance/workout by doing routines using music that use tae boe moves. Hope this helps.

Hi Tonya,
Your daughter sounds like mine. She will be 8 in July and she weighs 108. I try to keep junk out of the house but I feel like I am not being fair by depriving her of sweets. I have read not to label foods good and bad, but then what are you supposed to do?? I understand your pain and would like to share and ideas or progress with you. You daughter atleast sounds more active than mine. My daughter watches a lot of tv, which is obviously a big problem. Hope to hear from you soon.
