Reply from Theresa, Child's Age 12 - 06/03/03 - IP#: 24.67.253.xxx Dear My Child Needs Help My first question would be what kind of program is your daughter on? Second I need to commend Vicky with her well thought out comments and compassion to your daughter's situation. I understand your concern, and hear the passion in your posts to help your daughter, she sounds very much loved and special in your eyes as all daughters are. In helping our daughter I have had to become the least popular person in our family to her (she would disagree). I have put an end to fast food. Chips, Candy and other junk food groups are no longer part of our grocery-shopping theme. If it's not in the house. I now have her keeping a food journal, what I bite, I write. So she can see at days end what she consumes. In this journal she has set her goals. The written word is power, so she has a plan, has agreed to workout with Mom to achieve the goals within a reasonable time frame. I also ask her to pick her favourite workout video and for 30 minutes/5days per week, we work out. Another great work out which is fun for all is 30 minutes of dancing, to her music. Find a way to fit it into you day, it would help her and ease your concern. Yes our Daughter get's testy, angry, ticked off at me. My response is "I am your Mom and I love you so much and know that I'm not doing my job if I just give up on you"Â. Vicky, I hope you read this message also, cause I have a message for you. Please don't beat yourself up over what you see as a defeat. Think of what you have achieved and feel proud, then move forwards with small steps.
Reply from Vicky, Child's Age 11 - 05/30/03 - IP#: 67.35.115.xxx Hi there, I want you to know that you are not alone out there know matter what you think. We are all here because we would like help and support for our children who we all love and care about very much. I am not sure how much your daughter needs to lose but it takes time. Especially if you have just started a plan of some kind. Also, if she loses it too fast, there is a high chance she will gain it all back FAST. I myself have lost 52 pounds and am very angry at because I have gained back 15 of them. I am so mad at myself. So,now, I have more weight to go to get to my goal. VERY FRUSTRATING. I just want you to know that if I can do it, I know she can. By the way, what is the plan you have her on???
