hi, i'm not a mother but an older sister. i'm worried because my little sister is getting fatter every day. she is 14, only 5'2 and weighs more than 250. so she told me. our parents are fat, too, and when we eat we only eat burgers and fries and icecream. i'm trying to eat healthy so i'm not that fat. but my sister just eats what's on the table and it isn't healthy. what can i do? i think she will get fatter and fatter if she doesn't stop to eat like that. our mum weighs more than 400 and doesn't care about her body and our dad is more than 350. when he's at home he's just eating and eating. mum is cooking all day. there's food everywhere you want. my sister goes to the fridge and takes what she wants. what can i do? i feel o helpless.

Maybe if you sat your parents down and told them that you are concerned about their health and suggest of they try just for a good solid week replacing every single piece of bread they eat with a bowl of strawberries or a peach or possibly some watermelon (all low calorie fruits) and see how it works for them. (Did you know that bread is actually all sugar. It is made out of starch and the starches just break down into glucose which is another name for sugar. You can do more reasearch about that.) I hope it works!

And if she doesn't think it's right to make her eat it, then everyone should do it. You could buy her more healthy snacks and put them in the fridge. If you don't have a job, then nask your parents for the money. And don't go out so much to eat. You should only go out if there is a celebration of her good report card or something. P.S. you really shouldn't call your sister or family fat, maybe big boned.

Reply from Arianna, Child's Age 15 - 01/22/04 - IP#: 24.14.155.xxx you should sit down with your parents and tell them you all need to start eating more healthier or you and your sister could have serious long term medical problems like diabetes or even die young. Instead of your family eatign junk food burgers and ice cream why not eat salads or veggie dishes and water instead of soda or juices and talkign walks together daily is a good idea to and family exercise time isnt a bad idea either or joining a gym or weight loss program is a good idea also. Don't feel embarassed or scared to ask your parents your doing your family and your long term health a favor.
