Hey everyone my child is extremely overweight i'm very worried for her health. She is 15 and she weighs 237 and she is only 5'6. She wants to lose weight but she says she needs to lose about 140 pounds and she is scared if she loses that much she will have a lot of extra skin there from all of the weight loss. Is there any thing she can do where she won't have any lose skin and what do you think would be the easiest way for her to lose weight but not have to starve herself? If you can help please reply asap! Thank You
Reply from Dee, Child's Age 13 - 06/29/04 - IP#: 216.175.30.xxx We just started with my daughter's weight loss program. She is not by any means starving herself. We are working instead on making better choices of what she eats and we eat and increasing her exercise level. Our doctor suggested 30 min. of strenuous exercise per day -- but it does not all have to be at one time. Just more exercise than she is used to has really made a difference for Jesse. She has lost on the average of 1 lb. per day for the last couple of weeks. When she does not exercise, she does not lose. When she does, she sees the results immediately. We know the loss will slow down, as right now it is mostly toning up the muscles. As far as the diet change, it is trying to get away from a lot of the breads, noodles, rice, etc., and lean more toward meat, vegies, fruits and milk products. I think if your daughter tries to lose slowly and tone up she will be much happier. I had one cousin that took off a lot of weight very fast, and had the problem with the lose skin -- eventually most of it tightened up. I had another cousin who lost weight very slowly, and she didn't have a problem with loose skin. (She lost over 200 lbs.) Congrats. that your daughter has made a great choice!
