Hi Parents with overwgt kids. I am wondering if you have a hard time finding clothing that fit properly for your children. I was overwgt growing up and always had to wear clothes that look alot older than I did. My shop was sears. I am wondering if that has changed over the years?

I am the casting director for a new unique family documentary for TLC (The Learning Channel). We're looking for 2 parent home families with children (only between the ages 7-13) that are overweight and need to improve their nutrition and overall health; as well as families that feel weight and diet has been a constant struggle throughout their child's life. This documentary brings in a doctor/nutritional expert to educate the family in their homes, at no charge and puts them on a three week program to improve every aspect of their family life focusing heavily on nutrition, but including lack of motivation to be active and poor concentration. It is called Big and Tall Baby, and can be accessed at www.bigandtallbaby.com. If your child does not fit into our husky line, I can take the measurements and make clothes out of the same styles. JCPenney also carries "pretty-plus" sizes but the dresses tend to be very floral with scallopped, assymetrical or ruffled hems which are very difficult to hem - particularly when you are buying an 18 1/2 and the child is 4'4". Wal-Mart has started carrying a limited supply of pretty-plus Mary Kate and Ashley-wear. They also carry half-size jeans. Try the boys department at Wal-Mart for husky boy jeans and khakis - they are uni-sex. Unfortunately, my SD is bursting out of pretty-plus and is now in a ladies "large." 9 YO and 142 lbs. as of Sunday. We have the "kids" 4 days a month and all we can do is model healthy eating and physical activity/exercise for them.
