Hello, my 16 year-old daughter, Jaime, has recently had me worried over her weight. She is incredibly beautiful, yet I'm worried for her health she is 5'11'' tall and weighs 210 pounds, which worries me. She doesn't look like she weighs that though. She doesn't have a 'gut' or stretchmarks yet. She has great muscle tone and is on the track, basketball, and volleyball team, yet her 33 inch waist is tormenting her and her doctors. I'm not sure how I can address this issue with her. Help would be wonderful.
Reply from Lola, Child's Age 16 - 03/31/05 - IP#: 24.5.164.xxx It sounds like she is very muscular. Just make sure that there is no junk around the house though because you definitely do not want her BMI and weight going up higher. Also, get her blood pressure and cholestrol checked. If those are ok, I think she is probably fine.
Reply from Grace, Child's Age 15 - 03/29/05 - IP#: 24.62.180.xxx Well, 5'11'' is really tall, and she sounds like she has alot of muscle if she doesn't have a gut or stretch marks... so probably just make sure she eats lots of fruit and vegetables and not alot of junk food and she should be fine. Muscle weighs alot more than fat, so a more accurate health measure would be a body fat percentage than her weight.
